Spring Training for the 2016 MLB season is under way!

What are your plans and hopes for this year?

Personally, I want the Braves to be competitive and hopefully make a playoff run. Doubtful, but one can still hope.

The Braves had an awesome offseason, I still can't believe that they were able to flip Shelby Miller for so much.

On the other hand, my Pirates had a bit of a dull offseason. We swapped Walker for Niese, which I think was a good deal, but we'll have to see how that pans out. I like the addition of Jaso, too, but his defense is a huge question mark.

They did! Usually I am disappointed with their trades, but their recent moves have provided some hope. They've done well and I can only hope it translates in the win column. Not so far in Spring Training, but luckily these games don't matter in that way.

I haven't heard too much on the Pirates, and that may be a good thing. They're a team on the rise, so any big moves could potentially rock the boat. At least as far as I see it.

I will say this...the whole White Sox and their situation with the player that retired when they said that he could not being his child to work with him is pretty interesting case. It brings a lot to the table when it comes to the discussions of the workplace and the role on raising a family and what should and should not be allowed, and that is really fascinating to me. The baseball should be great, and I am excited for the season, but this is an interesting story to lead off the year, and yes the pun was intended.

Crazy right? I definitely respect his decision to do so, and good on him for prioritizing what he believes in. On the other hand, I respect the team's right to control who has access to their locker room. Despite some people trying to blow it out of proportion I don't really see a bad guy here, despite everyone pointing at the White Sox. It's their right just as much as it is his. Just a disagreement. Personally, if he was that serious about it I would have tried to trade him to a team that accepts that demand. Win-win.

Heck of an opening day score:

Dodgers 15
Padres 0

Giants 12
Brewers 3

Least favorite score:
Nationals 4
Braves 3

Though it could have been worse.

Snippets:

Cubs OF Kyle Schwarber to miss season with fully torn ACL

Padres end MLB-record shutout streak at 30 innings

How about Trevor Story? I think his streak finally ended today but he had 6 HRs through his first four games. Ridiculous!

I know! Making an early case for Rookie of the Year. Kid is pretty good. I wonder if he can keep up the pace?

Braves have been absolutely miserable... 0-5 so far.

Both the Twins and Braves are 0-8 thus far. Completely embarrassing start to the season for both of those teams.

0-9 and counting for both teams. How long can this keep up? The Twins can't score and the Braves can't keep people from scoring.

Both the Braves and Twins are now on 3-game winning streaks after opening on 9 losses. They sure needed it.

Fingers are crossed for my A's to make a run. We have started off good so far, but are not looking so hot the last few games against Toronto. We'll see though.

I'm a die-hard Tiger's fan but my heart is with the Cubs as well. What Theo Epstein has done with that team is no less than magical. Joe Maddon is a genius. It's just a fun, young, crazy talented team. I don't know if 2016 will be the year, but it's coming, and it's coming real soon.

Though I'm a huge Major League Baseball fan, this season has been disappointing to me. And that's not because of anything other than me being an Atlanta Braves fan. We're beyond terrible thus far this season, so it hasn't been a very enjoyable experience. On the other hand, it's been a pretty exciting season and there are a lot of really young and exciting players to watch. In fact, I'd say this is just about as good as baseball has ever been talent wise. I just wish my team weren't making it so miserable.

Homerunsox2005: As a Tigers fan I'm glad the Twins are in our division this year. I can't speak from the Braves perspective but I know the Twins have massive young talent on that team though. Think of the Royals when they were awful for so long. A few good drafts and a few years of seasoning and BOOM, 90 feet from back to back world series titles. Sano has massive power. I like Buxton alot as well. There is just so much young talent in this game I'm glad we are slowly getting past the steroid era and can appreciate these young players even more. That being said -- GO TIGERS!

Hey look at that, the Braves lost to the Mets tonight 8-0 and are now 7-20.

That's a .259 win percentage.
