2011-12 Bowl Thread!

Rutgers beat Iowa St. in the Pinstripe Bowl a few days ago, and the same night, #14 Oklahoma routed Iowa, 31-14. Iowa teams went 0-2 this year....

The Outback Bowl, Gator Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Capitol One Bowl, and Rose Bowl are on tomorrow! Should be great games, especially the Rose Bowl.

Rose Bowl and Fiesta Bowl are going to be great. I'm watching the Capital One Bowl right now.

The Big 10 did awful today, their only win coming from Michigan St. in the Outback Bowl, and they hardly won that one, edging Georgia in triple overtime to win, 33-30.

Nebraska lost to South Carolina in the Capitol One Bowl, 30-13. It was SC's 11th win of the season, and making this season the winningest in school history.

Case Keenum threw for 532 yards and 3 TD's as Houston trounced Penn St. in the Ticketcity Bowl, 30-14.

Florida's special team had a great day in their 24-17 win against Ohio St. in the "Urban Bowl", blocking a field goal and returning it for a TD, and returning a kickoff 99 yards for another score.

Oregon beat Wisconsin in the highest-scoring Rose Bowl ever, winning 45-38.

Andrew Luck and Brandon Weeden both had over 300 passing yards, but Oklahoma St. was able to beat Stanford in OT to win the Fiesta Bowl, 41-38.

Great day of football! Which game was your favorite? Mine was definitely the Outback Bowl.

Michigan wins the Sugar Bowl 23-20 in OT. They scored 10points in the final 49seconds of the 1st half and allowed just one TD to West Virginia along with a 2point conversion. The Hookies had a 4th string kicker who missed just one FG, the one in OT that set up the winning FG for Michigan.

Arkansas beat Kansas St, 29-16, in the Cotton Bowl. You gotta be impressed with how well K-State did this year though, nobody could've predicted their success.

Alabama is the National Champs! They dominated LSU on defense, and ended up winning the first shut-out in BCS Bowl history, winning 21-0. Trent Richardson rushed for the games only TD, and the only TD in either of the two games between LSU and Alabama this season. Alabama has now won 3 National Championships in the past 4 years, all under Nick Saban.

Congrats to the Tide!

Roll tide!

I missed most of the game because I had homework, but whatever. I'm not the biggest college football fan in the world, and B.C. wasn't in it, so I'm not too emotionally crushed.

So what happens now? Bama doesn't deserve to be ranked number 1 IMO. They won at a neutral field and LSU won at Alabama. LSU isn't necessarily the better team either after the game last night...and what about OSU? I am now of the opinion that OSU could have made a great game with either of those teams and maybe even won...three way tie?

I think Alabama will end up #1, even though they don't really deserve it....

If the decision were up to me, Oklahoma St. would be #1.

EDIT: I was right, Alabama was named #1 in the final Associated Press poll. The rest of the top five in the poll are:

2. LSU (13-1)
3. Oklahoma St. (12-1)
4. Oregon (12-2)
5. Arkansas (11-2)

Thoughts? I honestly don't think LSU deserves #2....they played horribly, especially on offense.
