Saints assistant OL coach Jahri Evans accepts offer with Steelers

Jahri Evans has officially accepted an offer to become the new assistant offensive line coach with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the same role he filled for the New Orleans Saints under Kellen Moore in 2025. Evans began his coaching career in 2022 with New Orleans as a training camp intern before being brought on full-time a year later.

The Pennsylvania native will now return home with an opportunity to rejuvenate the Steelers’ offensive line group under the leadership of newly hired Mike McCarthy. Evans finished out his playing time in the league with McCarthy as his head coach while they were both employed by the Green Bay Packers.

Before playing home games at Lambeau Field in the 2017 regular season, the six-time Pro Bowl guard spent a decade in New Orleans, where he would win Super Bowl XLIV with the Saints. Evans was a crucial piece of the Saints’ success and offensive production. He was named to the AP All-Pro First Team four consecutive years from 2009-12. Evans earned second-team honors in 2013.

Jahri served as the epitome of an “Iron Man” athlete. Over the course of his 12-year career, Evans missed just nine games while starting in every game of his 193 total appearances, including playoffs. His prowess on and off the field has earned Evans the honor of being a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH, for the past three years, although he has yet to be enshrined.

Pittsburgh will be getting a talented former player and coach on their staff ahead of the 2026 season.

Saints QB coach Scott Tolzien interviewing for Steelers OC job

New Orleans Saints quarterbacks coach Scott Tolzien is interviewing for the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator job, per Jeremy Fowler.

The Steelers have notified the Saints that they plan to interview assistant Scott Tolzien for offensive coordinator, per sources.

Tolzien joined the Saints coaching staff in 2025 as part of Kellen Moore’s team. The former NFL quarterback was a player for the Steelers’ new head coach, Mike McCarthy, during his time with the Green Bay Packers, and coached under McCarthy with the Dallas Cowboys as quarterbacks coach before joining Kellen Moore in New Orleans under the same position after McCarthy was fired in 2024.

Tolzien has been a vital part of the development of starting quarterback Tyler Shough, who showed tremendous development after earning the starting job halfway through the season. Part of the Saints’ feeling comfortable without a veteran quarterback on the roster was their experience on the coaching staff, with Tolzien, Moore, and offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier all being former passers in the NFL. While Nussmeier and Moore will obviously both remain on the roster, the potential loss of Tolzien could be significant.

Tolzien is only 38 years old and has been coaching since 2019, when he joined the Wisconsin Badgers as an analyst. After joining the Cowboys in 2023, Tolzien’s acceleration up the coaching ladder has been impressive, and a move to offensive coordinator may be the final step before he gets a chance at being a head coach.
