NY Giants news: New York requests OC interview with Broncos’ Davis Webb

The New York Giants are not simply sitting on their hands waiting to find out whether or not Todd Monken will be their offensive coordinator or the head coach of the Cleveland Browns. The Giants are among a group of teams that have requested offensive coordinator interviews with Davis Webb, per a report from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Webb, passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Denver Broncos, was a third-round pick by the Giants in 2017 and did two stints with the team as a backup quarterback.

During this hiring cycle, Webb has interviewed for head coaching jobs with the Buffalo Bills and Las Vegas Raiders. The Bills hired Joe Brady as their head coach, but the Raiders job is still open.

Per Schefter, the Giants, Baltimore Ravens, and Philadelphia Eagles have requested interviews with Webb for their vacant offensive coordinator positions.

Monken was John Harbaugh’s offensive coordinator with the Ravens for the past three seasons. It has been expected that if he does not get the head coaching job with the Browns that he will join Harbaugh with the Giants.

The Browns are said to be deciding between Monken, Cleveland defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, and Los Angeles Rams passing game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase.

The Giants, obviously, are preparing to move on to Plan B.

Senior Bowl 2026 Day 1 winners, losers: Michigan edge Derrick Moore dominates

gettyimages-2249104739.jpg

MOBILE, Ala. — Day 1 of practices at the 2026 Senior Bowl is officially in the books, and with it came the first real separation between prospects who look ready for the NFL and those still searching for consistency. With NFL decision-makers lining the sidelines ad the stands, Tuesday served as a critical opening interview and several players wasted no time making strong first impressions.

Here’s a look at the biggest winners and losers from the first Senior Bowl practice.

Winners

Derrick Moore, Edge, Michigan (biggest riser)

Moore might have helped himself more than anyone on Tuesday. He repeatedly collapsed the pocket with a powerful bull rush and showcased his strength setting the edge in run-defense reps. His win over Miami tackle Markel Bell drew attention, and his ability to convert speed to power stood out. Moore’s stock is trending sharply upward after a dominant opening practice.

T.J. Parker, Edge, Clemson

Parker reminded scouts exactly why his name still carries weight despite a quieter 2025 season. His power was on full display, most notably with a long-arm bull rush that overwhelmed Maryland offensive tackle Alan Herron. Parker also flashed an effective inside counter, showing he can win with more than just brute force. While teams will want to see added variety in his rush plan, Day 1 was a clear positive step.

Gabe Jacas, Edge, Illinois

Jacas stood out with consistent effort and burst off the edge. He showed good leverage in one-on-ones and didn’t look overwhelmed against top-tier competition. His motor and physicality popped early, helping him carve out momentum in a deep edge rusher group.

Rayshaun Benny, DL, Michigan

Benny quietly had one of the stronger trench performances of the day. He showed good hand usage and quickness off the snap, holding his ground against interior linemen and creating disruption in team drills. He looks comfortable playing fast and physical exactly what evaluators want to see.

Jake Slaughter, OL, Florida

In a practice where offensive linemen often struggle, Slaughter held his own. He displayed good balance, strong hands, and an ability to anchor against power rushers. His consistency stood out, especially in one-on-one drills, where he avoided the glaring losses that can linger in scouts’ memories.

Ted Hurst, WR, Georgia State

Hurst stole the highlight of the day with a spectacular one-handed catch in the end zone, but his impact went beyond just one rep. He consistently stacked defenders on vertical routes and showed confidence tracking the ball downfield. For a smaller-school prospect, Hurst made a loud statement that he belongs and belongs early.

Losers

Caleb Banks, DL, Florida

Banks struggled to create separation or disruption up front. He was largely neutralized in one-on-ones and didn’t flash the explosiveness needed to stand out in a loaded defensive line group. There’s time to rebound, but Day 1 didn’t help his case.

Diego Pavia, QB, Vanderbilt

While Pavia had moments, his overall day was uneven. Ball placement and timing were inconsistent, and his lack of size remains an unavoidable talking point. In a quarterback group where efficiency matters, Pavia didn’t clearly separate himself on the opening day.

Markel Bell, OT, Miami

Bell had a rough start, highlighted by a tough rep against Derrick Moore where his anchor gave way quickly. He struggled with power rushers and looked uncomfortable resetting once beaten. The physical tools are there, but Day 1 exposed some concerns.

Romello Height, Edge, Auburn

Height failed to consistently win in one-on-ones and didn’t show the explosiveness expected from his frame. In a week where edge rushers are already stealing the spotlight, Height will need a bounce-back performance to stay in the conversation.

Early takeaway

Day 1 of Senior Bowl practice reinforced a familiar truth: the edge rusher and wide receiver groups are loaded. Players like Moore, T.J., and Hurst used the opening session to elevate their draft profiles, while others now face pressure to respond quickly.

With two practices still ahead, nothing is settled but first impressions matter, and several prospects made theirs count.

2 former NY Giants coaches joining Brian Daboll with Tennessee Titans

Former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll, now offensive coordinator of the Tennessee Titans, appears to be getting the band back together with his new team.

Former Giants offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo and quarterback coach Shea Tierney are reportedly set to join Daboll with the Titans.

Those hoping Bricillo, who did a good job with the Giants the last two seasons, would return will be disappointed. After Todd Monken was named head coach of the Cleveland Browns and hired former Baltimore Ravens offensive line coach George Warhop, some hoped Bricillo would consider a return to the Giants.

Bricillo is expected to join Daboll in Tennessee, although that has yet to be made official.

Tierney, who was Daboll’s quarterbacks coach with the Giants and has been with him since Daboll was offensive coordinator at Alabama in 2017, will fill that role under Daboll for Tennessee.

New Giants head coach John Harbaugh, of course, wanted Monken to become his offensive coordinator. That was expected to happen if the Browns had not hired him to be their head coach. Warhop was expected to follow Monken to New York, as well.

Harbaugh, who has already brought a bevy of former Ravens coaches to the Giants, will now have to pivot at two vital offensive positions.

NY Giants news: Strength and conditioning coach from Ravens joins staff

The New York Giants have once again reached into the Baltimore Ravens’ coaching staff, with head coach John Harbaugh bringing former Ravens’ strength and conditioning coach Ron Shrift to New Jersey.

Shrift was with the Ravens for nine seasons. Here is Shrift’s bio from the Ravens’ website:

RON SHRIFT is in his ninth NFL season, spending each one in Baltimore, and currently serves as the team’s strength & conditioning coach. In his role, Shrift helps lead all sports science, speed, strength training and recovery initiatives, working closely with strength & conditioning coordinator Scott Elliott to oversee a program that helps prepare players for the rigors of each NFL season. He originally joined the Ravens after spending several years working at Power Train Sports, a sports performance and fitness training facility in Pennsylvania. Shrift attended Juniata (PA) College, where he was the captain of the football team and a strength & conditioning All-American before assisting in the strength & conditioning program. Once earning his master’s degree in recreation and sport management from Florida International University, where he also served as a graduate assistant strength & conditioning coach, Shrift interned at Penn State University and joined North Carolina A&T as an assistant strength & conditioning coach. He also holds a master’s degree in exercise science, performance enhancement and injury prevention from California University of Pennsylvania. A registered strength & conditioning coach and specialist, Shrift’s credentials include certifications in speed and agility, as well as pre-habilitation and recovery.

The Ravens, though, will retain strength and conditioning coordinator Scott Elliott and assistant strength and conditioning coach Scott Hartman.

NY Giants will interview Chargers’ QB coach for offensive coordinator

The New York Giants are moving quickly to line up interviews for their vacant offensive coordinator position. Los Angeles Chargers quarterbacks coach Shane Day will interview with the Giants on Saturday, the third candidate added to head coach John Harbaugh’s list of possibilities on Thursday.

Reports on Thursday indicated the Giants had requested interviews with Indianapolis Colts’ passing game coordinator Alex Tanney (full story) and Colts’ offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter (full story). They had previously requested an interview with Denver Broncos’ quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator Davis Webb (full story). Webb might be in line for a promotion to offensive coordinator in Denver.

Day, 51, has coached for the San Francisco 49ers twice, Chicago Bears, Washington Redskins, Miami Dolphins, Chargers twice, and the Houston Texans. He has served in a variety of roles, but has never been an offensive coordinator. Day spent the last two years working for Jim Harbaugh with the Chargers.

Day interviewed for the Chargers’ offensive coordinator position before the team hired former Miami Dolphins’ head coach Mike McDaniel for that job.
