Las Vegas Raiders-New York Giants FEED Topic: Ashton Jeanty 1,000-yard watch

Ashton Jeanty

Seeing as the Week 17 matchup between the 2-13 New York Giants and 2-13 Las Vegas Raiders has been appropriately nicknamed the ‘Tank Bowl’, there aren’t many storylines to keep tabs on outside of the No. 1 overall pick of the 2026 NFL draft. However, Raiders’ rookie running back Ashton Jeanty does have a chance at achieving a season-long milestone by rushing for 1,000 yards.

Granted, it will take quite a career performance and then some to accomplish this on Sunday. Jeanty heads into the game with 828 rushing yards on the campaign, meaning he needs 172 yards to add the comma to his total. That’s 34 yards more than his single-game high for the year, a 138-yard outing in Week 4 against the Chicago Bears. Even so, accomplishing the feat against New York is attainable for the Boise State product.

Jeanty is coming off a huge game where he rushed for 128 yards against a Houston Texans’ defense that ranks fourth in the NFL for opponent rushing yards per game (96.2), per Team Rankings. Meanwhile, the Giants are one of the worst defenses in the league against the ground game, giving up 150.9 ypg, the second-most in pro football. Also, the G-Men’s defense ranks dead last in EPA per rush (0.16, per SumerSports) and team run defense graded from Pro Football Focus (41.3).

So, it will still take a historic day from the No. 6 overall pick to cross the 1,000-yard threshold, but it isn’t out of the question. And that would be an impressive accomplishment considering the circumstances.

The Raiders’ offensive line issues in 2025 have been well-documented, as 703 yards or nearly 85 percent of Jeanty’s rushing total have come after contact, per PFF. That’s on top of playing for two offensive coordinators after Chip Kelly was fired after Week 12. Also, Bucky Irving of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is the only rookie running back to rush for 1,000 yards or more since 2023.

As a result, we’ll be on Jeanty watch for this week’s gameday discussion over on The FEED. The game kicks off at 1:05 p.m. PST and will air on CBS (check your local listings). I look forward to talkin’ some ball with y’all!

Raiders roster: Getting to know Terrell Edmunds

Terrell Edmunds in November

The Las Vegas Raiders promoted safety Terrell Edmunds from the practice squad this week. Let’s take a closer look at Edmunds:

Size:

6-1, 217 pounds.

NFL experience:|

Edmunds entered the NFL as a first-round pick in 2018 when the Pittsburgh Steelers selected him with the No. 28 overall pick. He spent his first NFL seasons with the Steelers. Edmunds signed as a free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023. He was traded to the Tennessee Titans in October, 2023. He signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2024 and was soon cut. He returned to Pittsburgh later last season. He spent some time in 2025 with the Los Angeles Chargers and signed with the Raiders in August as a street free agent. He didn’t make the roster and was signed to the practice squad. He was elevated for games twice this season. He’s played in 103 games with 79 starts in the NFL.

College:

Edmunds went to Virginia Tech. His brothers Trey and Tremaine also have been NFL players as was their father, Ferrell. Terrell and Tremaine (who is a linebacker for the Chicago Bears) made history becoming the first brothers drafted in the first round of the same draft.

How he will fit in with Raiders:

Edmunds, 28, should get some playing time in the final two games as the Raiders use a few players to replace Jeremy Chinn, was was put on the injured reserve this week.

Las Vegas Raiders must be wary of New York Giants ground game

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart, right, hands the ball off to running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. (29).

The fight for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft this Sunday inside Allegiant Stadium is likely going to be a slugfest in the trenches.

It’ll be the host Las Vegas Raiders’ middling run defense versus the visiting New York Giants’ upper echelon ground game when the two 2-13 football teams square off Sunday. The Silver & Black must be wary of the G-Men’s rushing capabilities because this is the one area where New York is in the Top 10 amongst the 32 NFL teams.

With 2,264 yards gained, the Giants rank seventh overall in that category. The 415 attempts is third highest while the 19 touchdowns scored is the sixth-highest mark in the league. All this despite losing power back and rookie Cam Skattebo in late October.

And unlike predecessor Brian Daboll (who was not only the Giants head coach but also play caller), interim head honcho Mike Kafka is a run-centric offensive mind.

#Giants finished Sunday's loss with 28 called runs against 19 Jaxson Dart dropbacks.

By The Numbers
New York Giants Rushing

  • Leading rusher: RB Tyrone Tracy Jr, 144 carries, 575 yards, 2 touchdowns, 32 first downs
  • Most touchdowns: QB Jaxson Dart, 72 carries, 407 yards, 7 touchdowns, 31 first downs
  • Don’t forget: RB Devin Singletary, 102 carries, 366 yards, 3 touchdowns, 22 first downs

Expect Patrick Graham’s Raiders run defense to get thoroughly tested. Las Vegas is ranked 16th in terms of yards allowed (1,747) but in the lower ranks when looking at attempts (457, fourth highest) and touchdowns allowed (19, fifth highest).

And with the Giants heading into this Week 17 matchup off a 16-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings — a game where New York’s offense was limited to 13 passing yards and 128 rushing yards — getting the ground game to align with a productive air attack behind rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart is a must-do for Kafka’s G-Men. That loss last Sunday was Dart’s least productive game in his first year: 7 of 13 for 33 yards, zero touchdowns, one interception; two carries for seven yards, while absorbing five sacks.

But Graham isn’t taking Dart lightly.

“I mean, to start off, funky situation. He had a veteran in front of him, he comes in, dynamic football player. Dynamic football player,” Graham explained. “What I mean by that is explosive plays in the run game. You see it when he creates those plays down there running the ball, explosive plays in terms of pass game, he has arm talent like and then the fact that the loose plays when he gets outside the pocket, can get the ball down the field. He’s doing a good job of distributing the ball.”

Interestingly enough, Daboll’s dismissal and Kafka’s ascension seems to have created quite the diverging path for Dart — as the post below illustrates.

Jaxson Dart in the 3 full games he’s played since Brian Daboll’s firing:

• 413 passing yards
• 75 rushing yards
• 3 total touchdowns
• 2 interceptions
• 70.1 passer rating (avg)

Jaxson Dart in the 3 full games prior to Daboll being fired:

• 626 passing yards
• 139… https://t.co/KgiVyAYsxz pic.twitter.com/48DRY8ileo

— SCOUTD (@scoutdnfl) December 21, 2025

Regardless, Dart has young and productive pass catchers Wan’Dale Robinson (wide receiver, 81 receptions for 901 yards and four touchdowns) and Theo Johnson (tight end, 45 receptions, 528 yards, five touchdowns) to throw to. And he has running backs Tyron Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary to hand off the ball too along with his own capable legs.

And Graham is treating the 22-year-old signal caller as a capable dual threat.

“And then I always talk about with the quarterbacks, how is he checking in and out of the runs? He’s doing a good job with their check with the run game; you can see that he’s getting some favorable looks for him,” Graham noted of Dart. “But, I mean, it’s a good young player that’s just starting his NFL career, has a level of toughness; he’ll throw it up in there with against anybody. So, I mean, it’s definitely a challenge for us.”

Quote of Note

“I can’t speak for those guys, but I would assume anytime you stay stagnant in this league or get complacent, you’re going to get passed by. It’s a young people league. I mean, that’s what it is. I mean, they draft a whole bunch of guys in April, but they draft a whole bunch of guys to come in here to replace these guys for their jobs. So, if you get complacent, like, and they’re cheaper. So, that’s the nature of the business. So, if you get complacent, you’d better be thinking about the next thing. Take care of the moment, but you’d better be trying to get better than you were the day before. Because, I mean, just the nature of the business, they’re trying to replace you, because the young guys are cheaper and they’re younger.”

—Las Vegas Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham on the “What’s Next” mentality

Head-to-Head

Sunday’s tilt marks the 16th time the Raiders and Giants face off. The Silver & Black lead the all-time series 9-6 (all regular season clashes) and the most recent belonging to Las Vegas — a 30-6 shellacking back in November of 2023. The Raiders recorded eight sacks and two interceptions in that lopsided affair. Before that, New York dropped Las Vegas 23-16 in November of 2021. The longest winning streak in the matchup was a four-game roll by the Raiders from 1992 to 2001.

Jakobi Meyers, Jacksonville Jaguars one step closer to clinching AFC South

Jakobi Meyers

With the Las Vegas Raiders getting a much-needed loss against the New York Giants on Sunday, let’s check in and see how Week 17 treated a few old friends: Jakobi Meyers, Josh Jacobs and Denico Autry.

Jakobi Meyers

  • Game result: 23-17, Jaguars win
  • Stats: 6 catches, 39 yards

This was a rather quiet performance from Meyers, who signed a three-year, $60 million contract extension with the Jacksonville Jaguars a couple of weeks ago. However, it was a significant come-from-behind win for the Jags, clinching a playoff berth and entering Week 18 with a chance to win the AFC South by defeating the Tennessee Titans. Jacksonville can also take home the division crown if the Houston Texans lose to the Indianapolis Colts. Meanwhile, Meyers’ yardage total on Sunday seems to have sparked a controversy in the gambling community.

@BarstoolBigCat @Jerrythekid21 @HardRockBet can we get some investigation into this being a 9 yard catch?!? Had him over 39.5 and this puts Jakobi Meyers to 39 instead of 40. 3rd and 11 to 4th and less than 1!!! pic.twitter.com/5yWQeGx6hT

— Mark Powers (@Mark_Pow34) December 28, 2025

Josh Jacobs

  • Game result: 27-41, Packers lose
  • Stats: 4 carries, 3 rushing yards, 1 catch, 0 yards

On the other end of the spectrum, the Green Bay Packers cost themselves a chance at winning the NFC North, falling to the Baltimore Ravens by three possessions. That stings even more after the Chicago Bears lost on Sunday Night Football, and this will be a game Jacobs wants to forget. Sunday was only the second time he’s been held below 10 rushing yards in a game during his career. The other instance occurred with the Raiders in 2023, when he had nine carries and negative two yards. Jacobs is battling knee and ankle injuries, though, and hasn’t had more than 12 carries during the Packers’ three-game losing streak. As for the playoffs, Green Bay is locked into the NFC’s seventh seed.

Denico Autry

  • Game result: 20-16 Texans win
  • Stats: 1 tackle, 1 sack

Autry’s stat line wasn’t impressive, but he would have had two sacks on back-to-back plays had it not been for a tripping penalty that wiped the first one off the board. The second sack helped keep the Chargers off the scoreboard during a red zone trip, as a missed field goal loomed large in a one-possession win for the Houston Texans. That clinched a playoff berth for the Texans, who have a chance at winning the division after starting the season 0-3. Autry has carved out a 12-year career as a quality interior pass-rusher and is still playing well with 2.5 sacks in Houston’s last four games. Not too bad for a 2014 undrafted free agent.

John Spytek is Las Vegas Raiders’ biggest winner after loss to New York Giants

John Spytek

Mission accomplished for the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 17.

Between putting their best players on injured reserve leading up to the game against the New York Giants and what they showed on the field, it seems pretty clear that the Raiders were more than happy to lose on Sunday. Las Vegas’ tank isn’t quite complete, but the organization took a significant step toward securing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft, leading us into this week’s winners and losers.

WINNER: John Spytek

There’s no question that Spytek’s first year as a general manager has been disappointing. But with one more loss, he’s in a position to control the draft by owning the top selection of every round except for the fifth, while possessing 10 picks in total, per Tankathon. Also, Spytek can get his top choice at quarterback and has ample draft capital to lay the foundation for the organization’s rebuild.

Of course, the question remains of whether he can take advantage of the opportunity. The first time GM hasn’t inspired confidence so far, but he has the perfect opportunity to turn it around in year two.

LOSER: Devin White

White may end up leading the NFL in total tackles this season, but it’s pretty clear that opposing offenses are looking to exploit him in coverage. The Raiders allowed 207 receiving yards to the Giants, and the linebacker was targeted 11 times and surrendered 10 completions for 115 yards or 55.6 percent of Las Vegas’ total, per Pro Football Focus.

Heading into the final week of the regular season, White has been the most-targeted (100) linebacker in the NFL, has allowed the most receptions (81) and has given up the fourth-most receiving yards (648) at the position. Also, he added two more missed tackles on Sunday to bring his total up to 25 on the campaign, the second-most among LBs, per PFF.

WINNER: Michael Mayer

gettyimages-2253859866.jpg

With Brock Bowers out, Mayer ended up having a career day against New York. The third-year tight end led the team with personal highs in receptions (nine) and receiving yards (89), stepping up to provide some semblance of a functional offense for the Silver and Black. It’s been a slow start to the Notre Dame product’s career so far, but this was the type of performance he needed to help build some momentum heading into next season.

LOSER: Geno Smith

To be fair to Geno, he didn’t have much to work with on Sunday after the Raiders shut Bowers down earlier in the week. But it can’t be ignored that he’s likely going to finish the season with the most interceptions (17) in the league, after tossing two against the Giants. Tua Tagovailoa is second with 15 picks, but Tagovailoa was benched about two weeks ago.

Smith’s best chance at not leading the NFL in interceptions is if he sits in Week 18 and Sam Darnold (14) has a disastrous performance against the San Francisco 49ers.

WINNER: Malcolm Koonce

There’s no doubt that it’s been a tough season for Koonce, who hasn’t been the same since tearing an ACL ahead of the 2024 campaign. But he did manage to rack up six out of the Raiders’ 13 pressures, including one of the team’s two sacks, against the Giants, via PFF. Also, the defensive end earned a solid 68.6 PFF run defense grade and recorded a defensive stop against the run.

It might be too little, too late for Koonce when it comes to his future in Las Vegas, but he at least managed to put some good tape out there to earn another opportunity somewhere else.

LOSER: Tyree Wilson

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Wilson had an opportunity to prove himself with Maxx Crosby landing on injured reserve ahead of the game. However, the 2023 seventh overall pick didn’t even record a pressure on 22 pass rushes and posted a 51.9 PFF grade against the run, resulting in a 48.8 mark overall.

Wilson received his second-most snaps of the season and didn’t do much with them. At this point, it wouldn’t be surprising if next week is his last game as a Raider.

WINNER: Darien Porter

Porter had a couple of tough outings heading into the matchup with New York, but he enjoyed a bounce-back performance on Sunday. The rookie was only targeted once and prevented a touchdown by coming up with a pass breakup. He also recorded a defensive stop and was Las Vegas’ highest-graded defender, posting a 75.7 grade that was five points better than anyone else. In several ways, this was a game that the third-round pick needed.

LOSER: Greedy Vance

Vance finally got a bigger opportunity to prove himself against the Giants, recording a season-high 35 defensive snaps. That doubled his snap count for the entire season, but the undrafted free agent didn’t make the most of the extra reps. He was targeted four times and allowed three catches for 30 yards while missing a tackle and drawing a penalty.

The good news is that the USC product should continue to get opportunities during the season finale, giving him a chance for a bounce-back performance.

WINNER: Tonka Hemingway

Hemingway had arguably his best out of the season on Sunday. He led the defense with a career-high 73.9 PFF run defense grade, while collecting a defensive stop in the process. Also, the rookie from South Carolina recorded his second career sack, giving him two in the last four games, and had a batted pass on another pass-rush rep. As is the constant theme at this point in the Raiders’ season, that’s a good launching point heading into 2026 for Hemingway.

Week 18 NFL Power Rankings question Maxx Crosby’s future with Las Vegas Raiders’ rebuild

Maxx Crosby

After losing to the New York Giants this past Sunday, the Las Vegas Raiders have a clear path to securing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft by losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the season finale. That will officially ignite the Raiders’ offseason rebuild, where questions about Maxx Crosby’s future in Las Vegas will ensue. In fact, that’s already a big topic of discussion when it comes to the Week 18 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN

32. Las Vegas Raiders

Last week: 32

What we learned this season: The Raiders need to embrace a full rebuild.

Coach Pete Carroll was brought in to change the culture within the organization and make the team competitive right away. The truth is that the Raiders are far from being competitive and could soon be searching for a new head coach for the third straight season. Sunday marked their 10th double-digit loss in 2025, and quarterback Geno Smith threw multiple interceptions yet again. It’s time they embrace a full rebuild through the draft and development. This offseason will provide an opportunity to do so, as ESPN Analytics gives them an 80% shot at the No. 1 pick. At the same time, it might be worth it to explore trading star defensive end Maxx Crosby, who is 28 with aspirations of winning. The Raiders have won a combined six games in the past two seasons. Ryan McFadden

It may not be popular, but McFadden is sharing a lot of the same sentiments that I’ve been saying for a few weeks now. Trading Crosby should be on the table this offseason, and after last week’s news that he and the organization are at odds about him getting shut down for the final two games, it seems like that could become a reality in the spring. Of course, a lot can change in the coming months, and the Raiders would have to get a significant return for a trade to be worth it. But it’s safe to say that Crosby’s future in Las Vegas is, at least, in question.

NFL.com

32. Las Vegas Raiders

Last week: 32

Geno Smith was crushed after throwing his second interception on Sunday, replaced by Kenny Pickett, and it’s at least possible that’s the last we’ve seen of the 35-year-old quarterback in Las Vegas. The Geno experiment just hasn’t worked out as hoped, with the 34-10 loss to the Giants raising his INT total to a league-worst 17 as the Raiders moved into the driver’s seat for the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Whether that pick lands Vegas the passer of the future or not remains to be seen, but it’s clear that it could be one of several major changes to occur. We need to see what Pete Carroll’s future is, and then there’s the whole Maxx Crosby situation. Once again, the Raiders are a near-teardown, and it’s no guarantee they’ll do enough next offseason to be competitive. — Eric Edholm

Edholm’s last sentence is significant. The Silver and Black’s roster needs a good amount of work, and if the organization rebuilds this offseason properly, the Raiders should be one of the youngest teams in the league next year. That means they probably won’t win many games in 2026, but at least they’ll be developing a young core and laying the team’s foundation.

In other words, I think a realistic expectation for the 2026 Raiders is that they’ll be like the 2014 squad that was led by rookies Derek Carr and Khalil Mack. That team went just 3-13, but the young core got valuable NFL experience to finish 7-9 in 2015 and then end the franchise’s playoff drought the following year.

Bleacher Report

32. Las Vegas Raiders

Last week: 32

When the Las Vegas Raiders hired Pete Carroll and traded for Geno Smith, the expectation was that they would help deliver a more competitive team right away. That hasn’t happened, and the Raiders now appear to be actively trying to lose games. Las Vegas announced that it was shutting down both Brock Bowers and Maxx Crosby ahead of its Week 17 game against the New York Giants—a game that would hand the loser control of the No. 1 pick in the 2026 draft. Teams tank all the time in the NFL. However, Raiders fans would probably feel better about the current state of affairs if they hadn’t been sold on the idea that tanking wouldn’t be part of the 2025 plan. — Kristopher Knox

Being in a position to get the No. 1 overall pick definitely wasn’t the message Carroll conveyed to his team and the fanbase, which is what makes this season so frustrating and disappointing. However, Las Vegas has been stuck in quarterback purgatory for several years now. So, maybe this is what the franchise needed, as it’s easier than ever to hit the reset button.

Head coach check-in: Back to school?

The Raiders’ Week 1 win over New England might go down as the most inexplicable result of the season. Las Vegas is 1-13 since, and Pete Carroll may not be the oldest coach in the NFL much longer. At least Carroll understood the assignment. The Raiders put Maxx Crosby on IR against his will last week and then needed only 2 hours, 49 minutes to lose to the Giants, likely securing the top pick. — Josh Kendall and Chad Graff

To be honest, I’m not sure what to make of Crosby and Bowers going on IR regarding what it means for Carroll’s future. I can see the argument that Carroll wouldn’t sign off on that unless he’s guaranteed to be retained in the offseason. On the other hand, that could also be a move where Tom Brady, Mark Davis and John Spytek take the power away from the head coach since the head coach won’t be back and make a decision that’s in the organization’s long-term interests. Regardless, ‘Black Monday’ will be an eventful day in Southern Nevada.

The best thing I can say about the Raiders? They left no doubt that they deserve to have the top pick in the 2026 draft. A team that can’t put up any resistance against the lowly Giants clearly needs all the roster help it can get. Picking quarterback prospect Fernando Mendoza should be an easy choice for Las Vegas, and he’s the best shot this franchise has to reset some of its awful vibes from this year. — Diante Lee

I wholeheartedly agree with what Lee says here about taking Mendoza. We’ve been waiting for the Raiders to have an opportunity to finally have a chance at securing a franchise quarterback, and they need to take advantage of the situation they’re in. I know everyone isn’t completely sold on Mendoza and wants to hold out for next year’s class, but there is too much risk involved with that line of thinking, in my opinion. A quarterback in the hand is worth two in 2027.

Las Vegas Raiders early free agent contract projections

1447066360.jpg

The 2025 NFL season is starting to wind down, and the projected free agent market is starting to pick things up. The Raiders have over 20 players slated to hit free agency in a slew of unrestricted, restricted, and exclusive right free agents. Contract projections for Raiders free agents have recently started to float in through multiple outlets, a brief breakdown and analyzation of the markets plus predictions.

QB Kenny Pickett

  • Projection: 2 years, 8 million with 5.2 million guaranteed

Pickett has been a steady backup for the majority of his career with a 63% career completion rate, 4934 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions along with 319 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns. Pickett’s days as a starter are likely well past unless it’s in spot starts or cleanup. The Raiders could bring Pickett back as a backup though his contract seems rich for that.

RB Raheem Mostert

  • Projection: 1 year, 1.5 million, fully guaranteed

Mostert has been a quality backup runningback and returner this season though the Raiders can easily improve off 21 attempts, 98 yards and just 67 receiving yards for their backup runningback to star Ashton Jeanty. Mostert isn’t expensive and could be back for quality depth as an RB3-4 but nothing as a 2nd guy.

RB Zamir White

  • Projection: 1 year, 1.1 million with none guaranteed

White has struggled to catch on this season and likely is out of Vegas going forward and possibly playing down the end of his NFL career. White hasn’t seen the field this off-season and the Raiders clearly don’t see much in him going forward.

WR Tyler Lockett

  • Projection: 1 year, 2.9 million, fully guaranteed

Lockett is tied to Pete Carroll, if Carroll returns as head coach in 2026 then it’s likely Lockett will come with. Since joining the Raiders, the 33 year old has logged 18 receptions for 201 yards. Lockett has seen his separation rate rise as well now ranking 24th in the NFL. The veteran receiver provides a high floor bottom to the room, and regardless if Carroll returns bringing him back could be a potential fit to add veteran experience for Las Vegas.

WR Alex Bachman

  • Projection: 1 year, 1.1 million with none guaranteed

Bachman hasn’t seen much in his NFL career in terms of success though this year with the Raiders he’s turned in a rather solid season as a special teams gunner and returner. Bachman likely will be back regardless with a new coaching staff or not to serve as depth going into camp and special teams upside where he’s logged 6 tackles this season and just 1 miss.

TE Ian Thomas

  • Projection: 1 year, 2.8 million, fully guaranteed

Thomas is never known as a top receiving TE and solely as a blocker, he’s struggled with the Raiders this year as a blocker just like most the offense however. Thomas likely will be moved off of as the Raiders look to get Carter Runyon more involved or replace him with another tight end for bottom of the roster depth at the position.

T Stone Forsythe

  • Projection: 1 year, 5.5 million, with 3.8 million guaranteed

Forsythe, like Lockett and others, is tied to Pete Carrol. The former Seahawk has had his ups this season but a fair bit of struggles also allowing 10 sacks and 38 pressures along with 4 penalties. Forsythe is one of three tackles this season to allow over 10 sacks and hasn’t been as impressive with his run blocking to make up for it. Forsythe is a capable 4th tackle in the NFL but his time as a starter likely won’t be going forward. Should Carrol return, Forsythe could as well ideally as a backup tackle, if Carrol is fired then it’s likely Forsythe is gone especially at that projection figure.

IOL Dylan Parham

  • Projection: 3 years, 21 million (7M AAV) with 15 million guaranteed

Parham is an intriguing option this off-season, he’s likely one of the top guards available due to a lack of talent at the position in situations. Parham has slightly regressed this season in numerous aspects and came into the year with lofty expectations and possible market. Parham has seen his ups and downs in the NFL but overall has been a quality guard and the projection showcases that going forward. Teams will likely take at that contract to fill a short term fix or add a high floor, low ceiling option to their room. The Raiders likely will move away from Parham and look to try and add younger talent or turn to Caleb Rogers as well. Parham’s market will be decent and likely net the Raiders a comp pick.

EDGE Malcolm Koonce

  • Projection: 1 year, 5.8 million with 3.9 million guaranteed

Koonce hasn’t lived up to expectations this off-season, largely in part to his torn ACL recovery logging just 3 sacks, 6 TFL, 8 QB hits, a forced fumble, and 26 pressures along with a 14.9% pass rush win rate. Koonce has his ups and downs and improved as a run defender following the ACL injury. Koonce a natural athlete who succeed due to his twitch, bend, and first step quickness likely was going to need time to adjust. Year 2 recovering from the ACL will likely be back to 2023 form for Koonce. Las Vegas should look to retain Koonce as as third or fourth option and add another starter opposite of Maxx Crosby to rotate in with Koonce.

Odd career for #Raiders Malcolm Koonce. Had 8 sacks in 9 game stretch in 2023 and has managed 5 sacks in other 44 career games.

— Bill Williamson (@BWilliamsonNFL) December 19, 2025

ILB Elandon Roberts

  • Projection: 1 year, 4 million with 3.4 million guaranteed

Roberts has been as advertised for the Raiders this season with 72 tackles, 7 TFL, and a fumble recovery. His struggles in coverage are notable and he lacks the athletic ability to really succeed vs tight ends, running backs, and shifty receivers in open space. Roberts has been the Raiders best linebacker this season, has history as a captain, and has been a high impact early down linebacker for the Raiders and Steelers. Roberts should be brought back for depth at the position.

There remains a very clear reason Elandon Roberts is a NFL linebacker. Dude is a missile. pic.twitter.com/6aSWLnDrch

— Brandon Thorn (@BrandonThornNFL) August 18, 2025

ILB Devin White

  • Projection: 2 years, 14.5 million (7.25M AAV) with 8.7 million guaranteed

White’s production has been off the charts but his film has not been the same. White has struggled in the run game, coverage, and has lacked effort at times. He’s likely to be paid off his run defense and true production but the overall struggles in coverage and off-field are reasons to look away from bringing him back and trying to add younger, more athletic, and higher upside players this off-season.

ILB Jamal Adams

  • Projection: 1 year, 3.2 million with 2.8 million guaranteed

Another former Seahawk, Adams has transitioned to a nickel linebacker role and flashed some success for Las Vegas with 35 tackles, 5 TFL, a sack, and 3 QB hits. He’s been a solid player in coverage with his experience at safety but notable as a run defender with only a 6.5% missed tackle rate. Adams has struggled at times and his age appears to be catching up with him but the Raiders linebacker does provide a stable floor to the room and could be brought back to provide a high floor depth option.

CB Eric Stokes

  • Projection: 2 years, 20 million (10M AAV) with 11.5 million guaranteed

Stokes is the only real must re-sign this off-season for the Raiders, the former Packers 1st rounder has bounced back in Las Vegas and played at a high level despite his statline. He’s logged 43 tackles, 2 TFL, and just 6 pass breakups but Stokes ranks top 30 among CB’s in reception rate allowed, QBR allowed (21st), EPA added, receptions allowed, and yards allowed. He’s been a consistent starter and at just 27 years old looks to be entering a possible “prime” of his career. Stokes has stayed healthy and showcase the athletic traits that got him drafted 29th overall back in 2021. Going forward the Raiders would likely value a DB who can turn in 23 receptions allowed, 238 yards allowed, a touchdown, and just a 79.2 QBR with strong tacking even as a depth option.

Eric Stokes leading all corners with fewest yards allowed per target!

— The Mad Raider (@RaiderLoot) November 6, 2025

CB Darnay Holmes

  • Projection: 1 year, 1.1 million with none guaranteed

Darnay Holmes is tied to Patrick Graham and he’s likely on the way out of if the Raiders decide to move on from Patrick Graham. Greedy Vance has overtaken Holmes as a nickel cornerback for Las Vegas along with the big nickel roles of Jamal Adams and Jeremy Chinn. Holmes has logged just 8 snaps after allowing 2 receptions, 118 yards, and a touchdown vs Cleveland in week 12.

SAF Lonnie Johnson Jr

  • Projection: 1 year, 2.8 million with 2.25 million guaranteed

Lonnie Johnson is also tied to Pete Carrol and the former 2nd rounder has seen the field a decent bit for Las Vegas this season despite missing time due to injury. He’s logged 200 snaps posting 13 tackles, a TFL, and PBU. Johnson has struggled in the run game with a 21% missed tackle rate and he’s allowed just 3 receptions for 27 yards and a 69.8 QBR. Johnson has the size and versatility to work as a nickel corner and safety which could provide a good floor for the Raiders DB room going forward if he’s retained.

K Daniel Carlson

  • Projection: 1 year, 3.4 million with 1.9 million guaranteed

Carlson’s future is a little unknown as he stands just 17 for 22 on field goals including 3/6 on 50+ attempts good for a 77.3% career rate which is the lowest of his career and continues his steady decline over the last three seasons. Carlson is a former 2x All Pro kicker with 3 straight seasons of 90%+ on field goals but has converted just 83.7% of his attempts since then including 9 misses from 50+. The NFL has expanded to make 50+ field goals almost automatic and Carlson’s leg doesn’t seem able to make the adjustment. The Raiders likely will add another kicker this off-season even if they retain Carlson to try and bring out a little extra competition to maximize either’s talent.

LS Jacob Bobenmoyer

  • Projection: 3 years, 4.8 million (1.6M AAV) with 4.2 million guaranteed

Bobenmoyer has been serviceable for the Raiders since signing. He’s a former Tom McMahon signing and could be tied to him while a new special teams coordinator could bring in his own guy. Overall, Bobenmoyer has been serviceable for Las Vegas and shows no reason to move on from.

Listed below are the exclusive rights free agents (ERFA) and restricted free agents (RFA) with their projected tender value, type, and any projected long term agreement if applicable.

IOL Jordan Meredith (RFA)

  • Projection: 1 year, 3.45 million (right of first refusal)
  • Extension: N/A

IDL Thomas Booker (RFA)

  • Projection: 1 year, 5.6 million (2nd round tender)
  • Extension: 2 years, 6.8 million with 4.3 million guaranteed

ERFA’s Tristin McCollum, Kyu Blu Kelly, Charles Snowden, and Will Putnam all receive a projected 1 year, 1.1 million contract tender as standard for ERFA.

Tommy Eichenberg finds niche

Tommy Eichenberg

Tommy Eichenberg, drafted in the fifth round in 2024, hasn’t made much of an impact at linebacker so far in his his young career.

However, the Ohio State product has become a strong continue for the Las Vegas Raiders as a special-teams player. In fact, he’s made some history.

The hard-hitting Eichenberg has 21 tackles on special teams so far this season. According to the Raiders’ public relations department, is the third most in the NFL by an special-teams player this season and it is the most by a Raiders’ player since special teams tackles became a stat in 1994.

So, Eichenberg is giving the team some solid value.

Week 18 NFL Picks: Las Vegas Raiders-Kansas City Chiefs predictions, Silver and Black Pride’s Pick’em competition

Travis Kelce, Brock Bowers

The Week 18 matchup between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs feels more like a formality than a competitive game. Both teams have already been eliminated from the playoffs and are expected to start backup quarterbacks, with Chris Oladokun making his third appearance for the Chiefs this season and Kenny Pickett playing in his sixth game for the Raiders. However, there’s a lot on the line in our Silver and Black Pride Pick’em competition as the last week of the regular season is the final opportunity to make a big push toward the top of the standings.

Odds below are provided by FanDuel Sportsbook and are subject to change.

Raiders vs. Chiefs

  • Spread: KC -5.5
  • Total: 36.5
  • KC ML: -270
  • LV ML: +220

Holder’s picks: LV +5.5, KC ML, Under 36.5

To be honest, no one should be betting on this game. There’s a chance the Raiders have the No. 1 pick locked up before kickoff, which would mean literally nothing is on the line, and it’s two backup quarterbacks for teams that combined for one win in November and December. But if you have to make a pick, it feels like Kansas City winning with something like a 16-13 score feels like the best bet.

Pick’em Competition

Moving on to S&BP’s Pick’em competition, below is a look at how our writers finished in Week 17.

  1. Matt Holder 171-84-1 (67%)
  2. Bill Williamson 170-85-1 (67%)
  3. Ray Aspuria 160-95-1 (63%)

Last week was a rough one for the writers, as all three of us went 8-8. Bill and I had the same picks, so it was guaranteed that there wasn’t going to be a change at the top of the standings, and Ray could capitalize on the opportunity to gain some ground. So, it’s a two-horse race where I hold a small, one-game lead heading into the final week of the regular season.

Week 17 Top Picker

There’s still some time, but it’s looking like JeepRaider is going to run away with this year’s competition. If Jeep can maintain the three-pick lead after this weekend, that should just about do it. The competition continues throughout the playoffs, but the significantly reduced number of games will make it difficult for anyone to catch up during the postseason. So, we all need to do our best to narrow the gap and make this a competitive competition from start to finish! Also, big shoutout to Smartaleck for getting 13 winners last week. That was two more than anyone else.

Best of luck with your picks! There are no Thursday night games this week, but we do have two contests on Saturday, so don’t procrastinate!

Caleb Rogers earning spot in 2026

gettyimages-2231914588.jpg

The Las Vegas Raiders, in general, will likely look a lot different going into 2026 then they currently stack up, one are of such is the offensive line where the Raiders are likely to make heavy attempts to overhaul what is currently the NFL’s 29th ranked unit. 2025 third round selection Caleb Rogers is looking like a potential piece to the offensive line going forward into 2026 and the rookie is earning his opportunity to start next year.

The former Texas Tech standout was selected 98th overall after a strong college career that saw him play in well over 4000 snaps allowing 28 sacks and 125 pressures though 15 sacks and 55 pressures came in 2022 when Rogers played left tackle before sliding back to guard in 2023-2024 where he allowed 7 sacks and 39 pressures across his time. Rogers would then go on to test extremely well in the pre-draft process earning a 9.58 RAS score and having elite marks in the three cone, 10 split, bench, and vertical.

Don’t see this a lot from the Raiders the past 3 seasons but good stunt pickup by Caleb Rogers on this rep. pic.twitter.com/vMX2VWL5hx

— Marcus Johnson (@TheMarcJohnNFL) December 8, 2025

Rogers struggled to make any real impact early on, not seeing the field till week 13 against the Chargers, a week after Rogers was notably set to make his debut but benched for unknown reasons. In his brief 165 NFL snaps against the Chargers, Broncos, Eagles, and Texans who all rank top 12 in pass rush metrics, the 6’5/310-pound guard has allowed just 1 sack and 6 pressures. Notably, Rogers has not been flagged and is also averaging 4.7 ypc as a lead blocker which is nearly double that of Alex Cappa. At 24 years old, it was initially difficult to see a path for Rogers though the rookie is carving his own filling in for injuries on the offensive line incredibly well. The Raiders offensive line will likely return Kolton Miller and Jackson Powers-Johnson at left tackle and center but the other three spots remain up for grabs. Rogers slots in well for Las Vegas as a potential fit at right guard going forward though his versatility and ability to play left guard is also valuable with the Raiders having Charles Grant and DJ Glaze in house to compliment the free agents and/or rookies added.

— Ryan Holmes (@Rholm22) December 22, 2025

Rogers has his struggles at times, though as an athletic player he’s able to maintain a large base, utilize power, and consistently win with his athleticism as well. The Raiders will need to work on Rogers technique, hand fighting, anchor, and overall approach at guard going forward and heading int 2026 there’s a lot more to like on film then there is to draw back from for Caleb Rogers. Rogers has done well with his communication abilities, movement in space, strength at the POA, and overall IQ as well. He’ll need to improve his pad level among others, but the initial looks showcase a lot of potential heading forward.Las Vegas is desperately searching for needs on the offensive line, with heavy impact players coming in multiple phases, Las Vegas could benefit from staying in house with Rogers to see what they can build for with the future. A highly experience, highly athletic guard is a swing upwards and Las Vegas will need to capitalize on the value Rogers provides and what he can bring in the coming years.

Las Vegas Raiders special teams must be on point even against ailing Chiefs

Las Vegas Raiders linebacker Tommy Eichenberg (44) leads the team in special teams tackles.

There was a time where, when everything else was falling apart or coming up short, special teams remained stout for the Silver & Black.

Not under under Pete Carroll’s watch in 2025.

This rendition of the Las Vegas Raiders is bad in all three phases of the game — a feat that many other head coaches couldn’t attain. From the coverage units to the individual performances of kicker Daniel Carlson and punter AJ Cole III, Las Vegas’ special teams group has rolled snake eyes this season.

The downward trend resulted in Tom McMahon getting the boot as special teams coordinator and Derius Swinton II taking over the reins as interim boss. And with either McMahon or Swinton, the results have been embarrassing.

Deonte Banks’ 95-yard kickoff return for the New York Giants last Sunday became the third special teams touchdown the Raiders allowed this year. The team is tied with three other squads (Giants and Cleveland Browns) with two punt return end zone visits allowed. The explosive plays yielded in the return game are a classic exhibit of lacking fundamentals (discipline and tackling, namely) in Year 1 of the Carroll era. And fundamentally sound football is what Carroll was supposed to instill in Las Vegas.

DEONTE BANKS 95-YARD KICK RETURN TD!

NYGvsLV on CBS/Paramount+https://t.co/HkKw7uXnxV pic.twitter.com/HKkCBiWVLl

— NFL (@NFL) December 28, 2025
“We got blocked. Yeah, they blocked us,” Carroll said about the explosive return a day after Sunday’s gagme. “And Tommy (Eichenberg) who has had a terrific finish to this season on special teams, had a chance on the play. Jonny Rhattigan had a chance on the play, some guys had shots at it, and they blocked us really well and they hit it exactly right. The kick was just right for them to hit it full go. And all those factored into it, the guy came ripping through us.

“It was really a change in the game. 20-10 with a good drive, we didn’t get to feel it very long, but we felt like that was the statement we needed to make to build a comeback and then to be smacked in the teeth with that one, that was a tough one to take.”

Individually, Carlson and Cole haven’t been at the All-Pro level they’ve attained.

The 30-year-old placekicker is 18 of 23 (78.3 percent) on field goals in his eighth year (contract season) as a Raider and is 21 of 22 (95.5 percent) on point after attempts. And it’s unclear if Carlson will be re-upped and continue his tenure as Raiders kicker. The 30-year-old punter, meanwhile, is sporting a 47.3 yards per punt average with a total of 65 boots for 3,072 yards. Cole’s net average is a paltry 39.6 yards per punt (the average that subtracts return yardage and touchback yardage), thanks in large part to the two touchdown returns.

And both Carlson and Cole were adversely affected by the protection group around them as the Raiders have one blocked field goal and two blocked puts on the books in 2025.

There’s a particular special teamer that’s provided a boost: Second-year linebacker Tommy Eichenberg. Leading the team in special teams tackles at 21, the 2024 fifth-round pick has the third most in the NFL in that regard and is tops in Raiders history since at least 1994.

LISTEN to this hit by Tommy Eichenberg 💥 @Raiders pic.twitter.com/aqgUtMKykO

— NFL on CBS 🏈 (@NFLonCBS) December 28, 2025

But Las Vegas will need more than Eichenberg’s walloping hits in the season finale. From coverage units to Carlson’s and Cole’s individual kicking games, the Raiders special teams group needs to be on point, even against an ailing Kanas City Chiefs squad.

The visiting Chiefs will be without return man and wide receiver Nikko Remigio (injured reserve; 29 kick returns for 741 yards, long of 4r7; 25 punt returns for 191 yards, long of 31), but rookie running back Brashard Smith is plenty capable as a return ma with his 4.39 40-yard timed speed. The 22-year-old seventh-round pick has 18 kick returns for 481 yards (long of 37) and just two punt returns for 55 yards (long of 44).

Some booming distance and hangtime from Cole along with lane discipline from the gunners and other special teams cover guys is going to be vital.

Quotes of Note

“Yes, and they all played extensively from what they had been playing yesterday. Yeah, we’d love to get those guys on the playing field. I don’t know if I’ll be able to pull it off, but I would love to say that everybody’s dressing that’s playing, everybody’s getting play time and getting a chance to contribute.”

—Las Vegas Raiders head coach Pete Carroll on getting younger players playing time and subsequent film in preparation for the offseason

“Yes. Absolutely. Yeah, absolutely. Maxx (Crosby) has been amazing, and I was right there with him fighting the decisions that came about. But when you’re in the middle of it like he is, you aren’t always going to be the clearest about — he’s willing to put his body on the line no matter what, and he was willing to do that no matter what, and I admire the crap out of his approach and his vision, and so the fact that he had to process it and get through it is totally understandable to me.”

—Las Vegas Raiders head coach Pete Carroll on if everything has been settled with defensive end Maxx Crosby who was put in injured reserve

Las Vegas Raiders-Kansas City Chiefs predictions

Andy Reid

It’s time for our weekly Saturday tradition of picking Las Vegas Raiders and, yes, it’s the final time this season as it ends Sunday.

It’s been a rough year for the Silver and Black as they sit 2-14. I’m 13-3 in picking their games.

Yes, I thought the Raiders would win against the equally lowly New York Giants. yet, it ended up being another Raiders’ blowout defeat.

With that in mind, I can’t justify picking the Raiders, who have lost 10 straight games. Yes, the Kansas City Chiefs look like a preseason roster now.

Still, the Raiders are worse.

Prediction:

Chiefs 16, Raiders 10.

Now, it’s onto the No.1 pick.

Now, it’s your turn.

P.S.

The Raiders’ season may be about to end, but we will continue our Saturday prediction posts in the postseason.

Raider nation has their highest confidence since Week 5

gettyimages-2253856196.jpg

The Las Vegas Raiders are about to embark on their final game of the season, with the fanbase not looking for a victory. The Raiders are in line for the number one pick in the draft, and they have a chance to secure it with a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Then we look to the offseason, and the team has to decide what to do with the coaching staff. The front office will help make the decision on the head coach and allow Spytek to select his own coach to team up with to rebuild the franchise.

In this week’s SB Nation Reacts, we ask What is your confidence in the team’s direction? Raider Nation must be excited about the chance at a number one pick. Team confidence rose from 6% to 26% heading into Week 18.

If the Raiders end up with the number one pick in the draft after Sunday, confidence in the future might continue to rise.

Stingy Chiefs defense might be last lopsided loss Las Vegas Raiders sustain

Defensive end George Karlaftis III (56) leads the Kansas City Chiefs with six sacks and is tied for the team lead in tackles for loss with 10.

The worst team scoring points hosting the sixth stingiest defense in the league to close out the 2025 season.

That’s the tale of the tape for the Las Vegas Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs Week 18 matchup this Sunday inside Allegiant Stadium.

At an average of 14.2 points per game and 227 total, Las Vegas is the caboose amongst NFL offenses. The team is behind the Cleveland Browns (259) and Tennessee Titans (277) in total points scored. Here’s something even more staggering in comparison: The Los Angeles Rams are the league’s top scoring offense with 481 total points. That’s 254-point difference when compared to the Silver & Black.

Which makes the Raiders’ final homestand an uphill climb as the Chiefs march into Sin City with the sixth stingiest defense in the league. Allowing just 314 points on the year (19.6 points per game average), Kansas City is just behind the Denver Broncos, who’ve allowed 308 points. The NFL’s top defensive unit — the Houston Texans — yields just 265 points, in comparison.

Chiefs Defense ranks this year:
Pass YDS/G: 202.7 = 13th
Rush YDS/G: 104.9 = 10th
PTS/G: 19.6 = 6th

Sacks: 32 = 21st pic.twitter.com/CDUEYlRWie

— NohlFlyZone 🗜️ (@NohlFlyZone) December 29, 2025

Considering Las Vegas’ top pass-catching option — tight end Brock Bowers — is on injured reserve and the team could only muster 10 points against the New York Giants last Sunday, the “uphill climb” against Kansas City is apt.

The visiting G-Men, who boast the 30th-ranked run defense, stymied the Raiders run game for much of the Week 17 matchup. And just 122 yards from reaching the 1,000-yard rushing mark, rookie running back Ashton Jeanty will be greeted by the NFL’s 10th-best run defense in the Chiefs. While it maybe “any given Sunday”, the lackluster performance against a lower echelon run defense a week ago doesn’t portend to good things this week against a Top 10 unit.

Although, heading into the season finale, Kansas City’s defense did yield 164 and 128 total rushing yards in back-to-back weeks against the Tennessee Titans and Broncos, respectively.

And that’s the start of how Las Vegas avoids one last lopsided loss to close out the 2025 campaign: Run the ball early and often with Jeanty.

A big part of this consideration is the absence of usual starting quarterback Geno Smith, who hasn’t practiced all week due to an ankle ailment. Raiders head coach Pete Carroll has noted numerous times it’s difficult to see Smith suit up and a combination of Kenny Pickett and Aidan O’Connell is on tap.

Kristian Fulton and Nick Bolton showed off the teamwork on this INT 😮 @Progressive pic.twitter.com/v7jJ3hEo0E

— NFL (@NFL) December 30, 2025

Steve Spagnuolo’s Chiefs defense made life tough for quarterback Bo Nix and the Broncos last Sunday as Nix finished 26 of 38 for 182 yards with one touchdown, one interception, while also getting sacked once. And in the first matchup between the Raiders and Chiefs back on Oct. 19 in Arrowhead — a 31-0 win by Kansas City — Las Vegas was limited to 95 total yards (70 passing, 25 rushing).

Dedication to the run game, mixing in play action, and seeing if speedster wide receivers Tre Tucker and Dont’e Thornton while possession wideout Jack Bech and tight end Michael Mayer can find soft spots in Denver’s defense is going to be key for Raiders interim offensive coordinator Greg Olson. Of course, all that relies heavily on the offensive line’s performance. Which, gulp, hasn’t been stout.

Defensively, Patrick Graham’s Raiders defense must play disciplined even against Chiefs backup quarterback Chris Oladokun. While the 28-year-old’s production against Denver was light (13 of 22 for 66 yards with one touchdown, no interceptions, one sack), that was against a superior defense and that’s not what Las Vegas brings to the table.

But Graham did talk about a resemblance that many picked up on when it comes to Oladokun.

“One thing, I was watching how he’s walking to the huddle one time and it looked funny. It looked like because he looked like Pat walking to the huddle,” the Raiders defensive coordinator said on Thursday. “I mean, not that they’re coaching that, but they’ve got a system and a scheme that’s been there for a long time, and I’m sure there’s some tweaks that are going to be put in place for him, just in terms of they’re not going to give him everything that Pat’s doing.

“But, I mean, the whole offense is predicated off of running the ball, whether it’s quarterback under or when they get in gun, the spread program and then getting the ball out fast in terms of their quick game. So, I don’t think any of that’s going to change, because that’s been Coach (Andy) Reid for a long time. And Coach (Matt) Nagy and how those guys put it together.”

— Kansas City Chiefs (@Chiefs) December 30, 2025

Quote of Note

“Each week is different. I’ve been doing it for a long time, so each week I’ve rarely ever seen anything new under the sun. So like, again, my job is to get those guys prepared to play the opponent that week, and put those guys in the best position to help minimize the points and make sure we’re ready to go on Sunday. So my job never changes. Never changes.”

—Las Vegas Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham on not having defensive end Maxx Crosby and how he adjusts

“I was real excited for him. Again, he’s a solid, solid player. Has been a real steady player since the Raiders have drafted him, and unfortunately, the year after he was drafted, we probably drafted one of the best tight ends that will ever play the game. So, he’s been a great teammate, and I know he’s been a great support system for Brock (Bowers), and the two of them are, together, two of the better tight ends when you look at tandems in the league. I think they got to be two of the best tandems in the league at tight end.”

Head-to-Head

Sunday’s tilt marks the 134th time the Raiders and Chiefs matchup. Kansas City leads the all-time series 76-55-2 (54-7-2 in regular season action; 1-2 in postseason play). The Chiefs are riding a three-game win streak heading into the season finale between both teams, having won the first matchup in 2025 31-0 back on October 19. The Raiders last win occurred on Christmas Day in 2023 — a 20-14 pummeling that awakened the Chiefs and powered their Super Bowl run. Befoer that, Kansas City six-straight games from November 2020 to November 2023.

Las Vegas Raiders give fans something to cheer while maintaining No. 1 pick against Kansas City Chiefs

Tyree Wilson, Malcolm Koonce

Las Vegas Raiders fans haven’t had much to cheer about this season, but Week 18 finally brought some joy for Raider Nation.

With the New York Giants beating the Dallas Cowboys during the morning slate of games on Sunday, Las Vegas had the No. 1 pick of the 2026 NFL draft locked up before kickoff against the Kansas City Chiefs. Then, the Silver and Black managed to avoid the embarrassment of getting swept in the AFC West for the second year in a row by beating their biggest rivals, 14-12.

Nothing was riding on this game, but the Raiders managed to show enough fight to get their first win since Week 6/mid-October. No player embodied that more than Tyree Wilson, who had a career game with six total tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles and a safety that ended up being the difference on the scoreboard. Also, kicker Daniel Carlson has had a tough year but managed to finish on a high note with a career-long 60-yard field goal to give the Raiders the lead with eight seconds left.

So, in a season that’s been hard to watch, the vibes are high in Sin City as the organization looks toward the offseason. That leads to a more positive tone when it comes to the internet’s reaction to the latest Raiders’ game.

A new quarterback is on the way…probably, or hopefully…

This game would be soooooo stressful if the Giants had lost.

The offseason blueprint:

the #raiders obviously have to hit on the 1.01, but they also need early-returns on their other top-100 picks. draft aside, not whiffing on the hc hire would also be nice. there hasn’t been a more important offseason for mark davis’s team. pic.twitter.com/bbfsTJnKp4

The one downside to winning.

Stuff that probably only interests me:

The Raiders win today didn't hurt them getting the No. 1 pick (thanks to the NYG win). But it does mean they will pick No. 36 in the 2nd round instead of No. 33 (1st pick on day 2).

The Jets will now pick No. 33.

Two forced fumbles for Tyree Wilson in the first half ✌️

Ashton Jeanty fell short of 1,000, but this is an impressive stat to give some encouragement for his future.

There have been 13 rookies in the last 10 seasons to rush for over 1,000 yards. None of them had more yards after contact than Ashton Jeanty (639), who failed to reach that mark.

Pete Carroll wants to return, but will he?

.@Raiders coach Pete Carroll said he'd like to be back next season. (Obviously that decision is TBA)

SnB Stop the Run
I hope the 2024 and 2025 draft picks get another fresh review next year by the front office and next coaching staff. This coaching staff is awful

We need an OC and DC that knows what it’s supposed to look like.

What a shame Jeanty was given Brennan Carroll as his run game coordinator and offensive line coach. 😖
Carroll said he would like to come back next season, reiterating what he said after #Raiders loss to the Houston Texans last month.

Speaking of old guys coming back, is Travis Kelce’s last NFL game going to be a loss to the Raiders?

ResDog
Would love to end Kelce’s career with a loss against the Raiders.

It’s wild how this season has played out, LOL!

BigEffingDeal

If you told me in August we’d start the season beating NE and end it beating KC I would have said what seed in the playoffs are we

I’d like to reiterate this message and thank you all for your support throughout this season. Here’s to the offseason!

Sacalicious
I would like to take a moment and congratulate every one of you as super extra die hard fans. Anything less than that, and you wouldn’t be here. Here’s to a better year next year.

Thoughts on Las Vegas Raiders’ GM John Spytek’s presser

John Spytek

Las Vegas Raiders general manager John Spytek met with the media on Monday after firing coach Pete Carroll after just one season. Here are some highlights:

Spytek, who was hired just days before Carroll, took responsibility for the team’s 3-14 record and said that accountability begins and ends with him. “I bear a ton of responsibility.”

He said the team wants to build the right way and knows it has a “big mountain” to climb. He noted a turnaround will not happen overnight. Yet, with the No. 1 overall draft pick and the second most salary-cap room, Spytek’s knows the Raiders have an opportunity to improve this offense.

As he always does, Spytek credited part owner Tom Brady for being a great partner. The two will lead the coaching search.

He said he needs to surround rookie running back Ashton Jeanty with players who can help him —- so that likely means signing offensive linemen in free agency.

Spytek said the new head coach will be in charge of hiring his own staff. That lends credence to reports that offensive coordinator Chip Kelly was forced on Carroll.

Spytek said Maxx Crosby “embodies” what it means to be a Raider, but didn’t go too deep into his future.

Spytek met with Carroll’s staff and they are all under contract. There future will likely be determined by the next head coach. However, teams usually lets coaches leave early if they wish.

Spytek would discuss Geno Smith’s future, but it’s obvious he will very likely not return.

Spytek noted he had some whiffs in not retaining some 2025 Raiders’ free agents and he has to improve in that area.

Giving Philip Rivers a coaching interview would be worthwhile for Las Vegas Raiders

Philip Rivers

During the weekend, there were reports that longtime star quarterback Philip Rivers could get head-coaching interviews.

Monday, Rivers told reporters, he is open to coaching in the NFL and he is confident in term of his knowledge of the game and his leadership skills that he could be an effective.

Are you listening, Tom Brady?

Brady and Raiders general manager John Spytek, who are leading the interview process to replace the fired Pete Carroll, should give Rivers a look in the process.

Rivers, 44, would be risky because he doesn’t have any coaching experience. But he’s extremely smart and he wouldn’t jump into something if he didn’t think he would succeed. Just look at his late-season comeback.

Brady and Rivers know each for being competitors for nearly two decades and Brady would likely be intrigued by the idea. The Athletic recently reported the Raiders were interest in energetic first-year head coaches. Rivers screams that description.

Also, Rivers could probably attract a good staff based on his relationship over the past 20-plus years.

Just for starters, Mike McCoy and Gus Bradley could be offensive and defensive coordinator candidates and there will be more.

Would it be a risk? Sure, but there is a higher reward here than the team’s last few coaching hires. Again, I’m not saying Rivers should be the top candidate, but the Raiders should look into him.
