NBA Insider Hints Cryptic Zion Williamson Issue With Pelicans

For years, the New Orleans Pelicans have been stuck in no man's land, as they have not made it past the first round of the playoffs since they were led by Anthony Davis in the 2017-18 season, and before then, it was not until they were led by Chris Paul in the 2007-08 season. Regardless of recent postseason success, the Pelicans have a surprisingly talented roster for the upcoming 2025-26 season. Of course, the franchise has been building around Zion Williamson since they drafted him first overall in 2019, but they have put legitimate pieces around him. The Pelicans have a new-look core of Zion Williamson, Trey Murphy III, Dejounte Murray, Jordan Poole, Yves Missi, Herb Jones, Saddiq Bey, Kevon Looney, Jose Alvarado, Jeremiah Fears, Derik Queen, and Jordan Hawkins, creating a very talented lineup.

New NBA Power Rankings Paint Positive Outlook For Atlanta's Recently Acquired 2026 Draft Pick

The Atlanta Hawks could very well be picking at No. 1 in the 2026 NBA Draft. No, it is not because the Hawks are projected to be a bad team (even if they were, the Spurs own the right to swap picks with the Hawks), it is because they pulled off an absolute heist of a trade on draft night in June. Atlanta moved back from 13th to 23rd with the New Orleans Pelicans and acquired an unprotected 2026 1st round pick swap from them. The swap is the most favorable of Milwaukee's and New Orleans pick.

Ex-Warriors Champion Reveals Moment He Gained Steph Curry's Trust

The Golden State Warriors and New Orleans Pelicans are two teams that have been labeled as offseason losers by fans and the national media. For the Warriors, they find themselves under this umbrella because they've yet to make a single move this offseason, excluding making two second-round selections. For the Pelicans, their criticism comes from their trades this offseason, but mainly from their deal with the Atlanta Hawks when they traded the 23rd overall pick and the unprotected rights to the most favorable of Milwaukee's or New Orleans' first-round pick in 2026. A three-time NBA Champion with the Warriors, Looney is one of the best rebounders in the NBA, despite not having eye-popping per-game numbers.

Six-Year NBA Veteran Breaks Silence On Signing With Serbian Team

The New Orleans Pelicans have been a struggling franchise since being created in 2002, and while they have had some big-time stars come through like Chris Paul and Anthony Davis, the organization has always had trouble retaining their talent. On top of losing stars, New Orleans has not had the best luck with their role players, with a good margin of them flaming out of the NBA entirely. Recently, a former Pelicans guard, who had high expectations coming into the franchise, shockingly signed with a team in Serbia to continue his basketball career. The Pelicans acquired Devonte' Graham in the 2021 NBA offseason in a sign-and-trade with the Charlotte Hornets, but after just one and a half seasons in New Orleans, his time with the franchise was over.
