Alright people. Valentine's Day is coming up in less than a month, and I want to be sure that I'm ready. Despite the many years that I have been single (not that I'm complaining...but yes I'm complaining) I am determined to not be alone this upcoming holiday.

And that is what I would say if I was a desperate, love-seeking girl with high hopes that she will find her one true love before the most ridiculous holiday of the year. To me, Valentine's day is nothing special, (I mean I loved the movie, don't get me wrong) but I don't think that I will find the one true love in a coffee shop and he will ask to buy my extremely over-priced brew and then we will date for a year or something and marry blah blah blah typical romantic-comedy ending (again I am a girl who loves those movies and secretly loathes every woman on the screen).

However, as the holiday approaches I realize that maybe deep down in my non-existent romantic side, I will secretly hope that I will drop my books in the hall way and a handsome young man that I have never seen before will help me pick them up and our hands will touch and...you know the rest. On the other hand, I refuse to let myself become the victim to desperation as the holiday draws near because that is not who I have made myself be over the years. I refuse to be the subject of a long tradition of overpriced chocolates and expensive teddy bears and little loves notes proclaiming ones love.

Alright, I admit, if I wasn't single at the moment maybe I would be really excited that I would be spending a day meant for love with someone I care about, but I'm not and I'm perfectly okay with that. I will not lower my standards just so I can kiss some guy in the hallways while I hold an extremely large bear holding a heart that says "I love you berry much". (oh but it's so cute!!

Happy Singles Awareness Day! :P

Probably the most awkward day of the year at my school....there's more people single than not, so we practically defeat the purpose of it. My school makes these cookie things called "Heart-O-Grams" that you're supposed to buy and give to someone, but most people just end up buying one and giving it to themselves....

Also, my dad's birthday is on Valentine's Day. :)

Haha Valentine's day at my school is actually pretty funny. Since it's a very small, Catholic school practically nothing romantic happens. Though most years a party is thrown in honor of St. Valentine. :P

haha "Heart-O-Grams". My school sells roses in different colors (if i remember correctly...red is for love or telling someone you like them, white is for friendship, and the yellow ones are for something..i don't remember...haha) Last year, I received a white rose in my second period class but it had no "from" name, so I walked around with the rose all day (because I didn't want it to die in my locker) waiting for someone who would tell me they gave it to me. In seventh period, my friend...let's call her Jane...came up to me, looked at the withering rose, and said "HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!" It was from her... lol Last Valentine's Day was okay, the rose gave us a good laugh :)

Valentine's day isn't too big of a deal here. It was like in 6th grade where some of my friends would be buying $20 chocolate boxes and roses for their girlfriends in THE 6TH GRADE.

Haha wow. Relationships before 10th grade or so are practically unheard of at my school.

I went to a Catholic "smaller than yours" School since kindergarden...personally i miss the days in like first grade when we had little parties where we all gave little pieces of candy to everyone in the class with little paper valentines

I'd say 80% of Freshman at my school aren't in a relationship.

The people who do have a "relationship" usually only stay together for a month or two at most.....Sophomores and up seem to be smarter...so hopefully my peers will gain some knowledge over the summer. It would be refreshing not to see 15 Facebook relationship statuses changed every week....
