Super Bowl week is always a fun time and you never know who will show up on radio row.

On Friday, former Tennessee Titans running back tandem Chris Johnson and LenDale White reunited at the Super Bowl to promote their Smash & Dash podcast.

In a conversation with Jim Wyatt, the two dove into many topics, including their thoughts on what the Titans should do this offseason and with the first pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

From #SuperBowl: Smash & Dash @thereal_lendale and @ChrisJohnson28 have love for the @Titans — and solutions.

In New Orleans, they discuss their friendship, their podcast, the NFL Draft, free agency thoughts and more.

“We said on our show: With the first pick … We want Travis Hunter,” White said. “No disrespect to Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward, but he’s a generational talent. Obviously, he plays corner, but I don’t think we give him enough credit for what he does on the offensive side of the football.”

This isn’t the first time someone has mentioned Hunter being a potential match for the Titans. In fact, according to many of the draft experts, he may be the only clear generational talent in this class and that is something the Titans have openly expressed they are looking for.

Both Johnson and White believe the new front office can turn things around and have high hopes that things can happen quickly. Of course, they also have some interesting ideas on how to make it happen.

Whether it was picking up quarterback Aaron Rodgers or trading for Myles Garrett, they were committed to taking Hunter with that selection. While Rodgers and Garrett may be on the Smash & Dash wish list, they may not fit with what the front office has in mind this offseason.

Like everyone else, these two former Titans are ready for the offseason to start rolling along.

Next stop is the NFL Combine.

Analyst believes Titans could trade out of the No. 1 pick

While the NFL draft does not take place until April, many analysts love to speculate about what they’ve heard or what they think the Tennessee Titans will do with their first pick.

The Titans have shared little about their intentions, only stating that they will not pass up a generational talent. Sitting here today before the combine, interviews, or pro day workouts, it is hard to tell whether that player exists.

Yes, players like Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders, Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter are popular names to connect to Tennessee, but again, this is all speculation.

One analyst thinks the Titans may go a different route with that selection.

It’s hard to debate Graziano’s take. The Titans roster does have some huge holes that must be filled before they can truly become Super Bowl contenders. With free agency on the horizon, they may be able to fill some of those, but there is no guarantee they will go that direction after their $228 million spending spree blew up in their face in 2024.

While Tennessee may choose to make a selection with the first pick, a trade out of the spot may fit the bill in this case if they aren’t sold on any of the top prospects. This may not be what many fans want to see, but it might be the best move in a draft full of uncertainty surrounding the depth of the class.

Everyone should find out a lot more in the coming weeks with the NFL Combine on the horizon. Between the player interviews and workouts, a lot of information will come out that will help give a better understanding of what teams are thinking as they populate their draft boards.

Jameis Winston wants to move his family to Nashville

NFL quarterback Jameis Winston hasn’t had the career most thought he would. A standout player at Florida State, Winson was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he played from 2015-2019.

The Bucs opted not to re-sign Winston and instead brought in veteran quarterback Tom Brady.

Upon leaving the Bucs, Winston signed with the New Orleans Saints. He endured a torn ACL with MCL damage in 2021 and in Week 1 of 2022, he suffered four back fractures. His playing time dwindled and he eventually made his way to Cleveland in 2024, where he took over for Deshaun Watson when he tore his Achilles tendon.

Now, though, Winston is a free agent and has made many comments about where he’d like to go. One recurring spot is Nashville, Tennessee, as you can see him telling comedian Bert Kreischer.

Winston says, in part, “I would like to just be in the south and go to Tennessee or something.”

“Oh, Tennessee would be great,” Kreischer replies.

“And I wouldn’t mind Houston either. But I want to be in a vibrant city, man. Cleveland was nice, but I would love to have my family stay in downtown Nashville,” he said.

Granted, Winston mentions several cities that he’d like to go to, but Nashville definitely seems high on his list. It will be interesting to see what the Titans do with this information, if anything.

Titans select QB Cam Ward in latest 33rd Team mock

The 2025 NFL draft is less than three months away and NFL analysts and insiders are putting together their best predictions. The Tennessee Titans have the first overall pick in this year’s draft and will be the topic of conversation until that first pick is made. Everyone wants to know: Who will the Titans select with their top pick?

The 33rd Team released its latest mock draft, and they think that Cam Ward is the answer.

Quarterback or not, the speculation about this pick will remain on high for the foreseeable future – just how the Titans want it. You never know when a veteran QB may become available and another team gets desperate to offer you a Godfather deal to move out. The Titans are wise to keep their intentions muddy. But at this point, it is hard to believe they’d bypass on the chance at a fresh start at quarterback.

The biggest speculation is that the Titans will take either Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward, but some outliers believe they will select Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter, and there are even a few who think the Titans should trade their top pick.

The Titans have been vague on what their plans are with that pick, and rightfully so. The more they can keep the rest of the league guessing, the more they’ll be able to get out of that pick if they decide to trade it. Still, it’s unlikely that the Titans trade the top pick because they have so many needs this year. We’ll all just have to wait and see what they decide to do, and in the meantime it’s still fun to speculate and predict what might happen.

Titans are first in waiver priority through Week 3 of 2025 season

The 2024 NFL season is officially in the books and teams are starting to work on building their 90-man offseason roster.

The NFL never stops and teams are constantly making changes. Some players have already been added with reserve/futures contracts, but more transactions will be on the horizon as teams make changes before the start of free agency.

This is also the start of the NFL’s waiver period for the 2025 league year, and the Tennessee Titans will have a premium spot for any waiver claims.

The Titans will select first based on the tiebreaker, which is strength of schedule (.522). Cleveland (.536) will select second, followed by the Giants (.554).

The NFL’s waiver period for the 2025 league year begins now.

From today through Wk 3 of the 2025 season, waiver priorities will follow the 1st round Draft sequence.

Thats good news for the #Titans, who get top priority on all waived players until at least October.#SuperBowl

— Pro Football Techs (@FootballTechs) February 11, 2025

Based on the 2025 NFL draft order, the Titans will have the top waiver position for the remainder of the offseason through Week 3 of the 2025 regular season. This should work to the Titans’ advantage as they attempt to retool their roster.

This may not mean a ton, but when you are rebuilding any advantage will help.

Ex-Titans WR DeAndre Hopkins offers update on his NFL future

Former Tennessee Titans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins isn’t ready to hang up his cleats and walk away from the NFL just yet.

Following viral rumors that he had informed Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid of his plans to retire — a false report that misled several, including those of us at Titans Wire — Hopkins revealed via X that he plans to return in 2025.

— DraftKings Network (@DKNetwork) February 11, 2025

“Don’t know what you’ve heard but I’m not done yet,” he wrote in a since-deleted post.

The 32-year-old Hopkins was shipped to the Chiefs as part of a mid-season trade from Tennessee. He appeared in 10 games for the AFC Champions after battling through a slow, injury-hampered start.

In addition to the Titans and Chiefs, Hopkins has also played for the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans, where he was a first-round pick in the 2013 NFL draft.

In 178 career games, the five-time All-Pro has hauled in 984 receptions for 12,965 yards, and 83 touchdowns. He’s also gained 21 yards on six carries and thrown one touchdown in his career.

Hopkins’ 12,965 yards are the most among active wide receivers.

Titans Wire regrets its earlier error.

Only 1 Titans player ranked among NFL's top 100 impending free agents

On March 12 at 4:00 p.m. ET, less than one month away, NFL teams can begin to sign free agents.

The 2024 season is behind us and every NFL team looks to improve its roster to give them the best chance at winning the Super Bowl in 2025, which means seeking out free agents to improve rosters.

The Tennessee Titans have 31 impending free agents, but only one of them cracked CBS Sports’ top 100 free agents list: Sebastian Joseph-Day landed at No. 92.

Day joined the Titans as a free agent during the 2024 offseason, signing a one-year deal worth roughly $4 million. He started 12 games this past season, recording 44 tackles (18 solo), 2.5 sacks, one pass defensed, and six stuffs. He played roughly 46% of defensive snaps and occasionally assisted on special teams.

Before joining the Titans, Joseph-Day played three seasons with the Los Angeles Rams (winning a Super Bowl), almost two seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, and appeared in two games for the San Francisco 49ers.

Over half (16) of the Titans’ free agents are on the defensive side of the ball, 11 are offensive players and the rest are strictly on special teams. With so many pending free agents, it’s interesting that Joseph-Day is the only player to make this list.

Titans' 7 biggest needs heading into free agency

The Tennessee Titans suffered through a miserable 3-14 campaign that prompted major changes in the organizational structure within the front office. Now, this new team, led by president Chad Brinker and general manager Mike Borgonzi will set out to retool their roster.

Along with Brinker and Borgonzi, the Titans added new assistant general manager Dave Ziegler and vice president/football adviser Reggie McKenzie to the staff. It was a complete overhaul aimed at building a consistent contender.

Armed with the No. 1 pick in the draft and roughly $50 million in cap space, the Titans have different ways to attack this rebuild. Of course, the first order of business is identifying their needs.

Here is a list of what we at Titans Wire believe are their biggest needs heading into the start of free agency.

Titans' Jeffery Simmons on Abdul Carter: 'He’s a DAWG'

The Tennessee Titans have the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL draft, and everyone has an opinion on what the team should do with it.

Even here at Titans Wire, we debate it and cannot yet reach a consensus on what the team should do. There are so many arguments to be made and factors to consider, plus it is still extremely early in the process. What we think today could definitely change after the combine or pro-day workouts.

During a recent appearance with the guys at Bleacher Report, star defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons weighed in with his opinion.

Jeffery Simmons on the #Titans having the No.1 pick and what the team needs:

“I’m gonna start on the defensive side of the ball. We need another edge rusher. That guy from Penn State Abdul Carter, he’s a DAWG.”

“On the defensive side, I think we need another edge guy.” Simmons said, “That guy from Penn State, Abdul Carter, he’s a DAWG.”

Carter is definitely an impact player with an extremely high ceiling and could be a player that can help take an already solid defense to another level. He’s also a player who might meet the Titans’ desire to draft a generational talent with that No. 1 overall selection. Being one of two players that scouts can relatively agree on.

While there is still a long time between now and the NFL draft in April, Carter is one player that will likely stay in the conversation up until a name is called.

Former Titans GM Jon Robinson interviews with Jaguars

Jon Robinson was the general manager for the Tennessee Titans from 2016-2022. He joined the organization after spending 10 years with the New England Patriots serving in various roles and a few seasons as the director of player personnel for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was fired by the Titans in 2022 after the team went 7-10 and missed the playoffs.

Robinson didn’t work in professional football in 2023 or 2024, but he completed an interview with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday.

Jaguars now have completed an interview with former Titans GM Jon Robinson for their General Manager position. pic.twitter.com/sK5G23pxaO

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) February 13, 2025

Robinson went 66-48 during his tenure with the Titans, and only had one losing season. His final season was when the team went 7-10, and the organization chose to keep Mike Vrabel on as head coach. They fired Robinson, who was eventually replaced by Ran Carthon, who has since been replaced by Mike Borgonzi.

His interview with the Jaguars was for their vacant general manager position. If hired, he will face his former team and AFC South rival twice a year every year he holds the position. The Jaguars have a lot of work to do, even more than the Titans, so they need to get that position filled as soon as possible.

Could Titans consider a trade for Falcons QB Kirk Cousins?

It’s not a secret that the Tennessee Titans must upgrade their quarterback during the offseason. Brian Callahan’s hope is that Will Levis will get something out of training with Jordan Palmer in California, but they need to have a backup plan in case that doesn’t pan out.

The Titans have options for answering this question, and right now the powers that be are evaluating draft talent, free agents, and potential trade stock. Free agency and trading ability open up in March, and we’ll get a good idea of what the Titans’ intentions are then.

Until then, though, it’s fun to speculate what could happen and PFF recently suggested that the Titans could try to trade for Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins, even though he has a no-trade clause in his contract. After discussing the obstacles that would lay in front of this deal, the Titans are mentioned as a suitor.

One team to keep an eye on would be the Tennessee Titans, who hold the first overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. With numerous needs, the idea of selecting a QB at the top of the draft has been met with some contention. The idea that the Titans could possibly trade back to gather more draft capital or select a “generational talent” – presumably not of the quarterback variety – has become the prevailing sentiment around NFL circles.

Head coach Brian Callahan benched Will Levis this past season after various bouts with questionable decision-making, and could very well look at a veteran signal-caller to take up the mantle. That would provide this team with flexibility come draft day, while also finding their starter under center.

A lot of things have to happen for this trade to come about, and right now it’s unclear if Cousins would even entertain waiving his no-trade clause to land in Nashville.

If he did, though, he would be a nice upgrade from Levis. A veteran who’s been in the league for 13 years, who has been to the post-season, who knows what to expect, and how to turn a mistake into positive yardage. Cousins easily has a few years left in the tank and would be a solid holdover until the Titans either get Levis developed or find his replacement.

Longtime Titans trainer Todd Toriscelli retires from football

Changes continue to cascade throughout the Tennessee Titans organization this offseason.

Not only has the team taken a new direction by completely reorganizing its front office staff and making multiple changes to its coaching staff, but it is also going to have some new faces on its training staff.

Todd Toriscelli, the vice president of sports medicine, is retiring and saying goodbye to his 35-year career in the NFL. A prominent figure in sports medicine and a highly respected member of the staff, he has come a long way from his days as a steelworker.

The longtime member of the Titans organization shared some thoughts with Jim Wyatt before departing the organization.

“Being a head trainer for 35 years, as much as I’ve enjoyed it, it’s just time for me,” Toriscelli said. “I’ll be 64 in a month, and we work about 90 hours a week during the season. People keep asking me what I am going to do, and I honestly don’t know because I’ve never been able to do anything.”

The Titans hired Toriscelli as their director of sports medicine in 2014 after 17 years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was named vice president of sports medicine for the organization in 2022 and honored with the 2022-23 NFL Outstanding Athletic Trainer of the Year Award.

Prior to entering the NFL in 1997, he spent seven years as a head athletic trainer in the college ranks, split between Stanford, Miami (Fla.) and Kansas State.

Although he is saying goodbye to the Titans and the NFL, his presence will still be felt across the league. Six current NFL head athletic trainers got their start working under Toriscelli, and his techniques have influenced many other training departments.

Veteran trainer Matt Gregg, who joined the Titans nine years ago, will be promoted to replace Toriscelli. Gregg has spent the past six seasons as associate head athletic trainer, working alongside Toriscelli.

Ex-Titans cheerleader joining WWE's performance center recruits

Danielle Sekelsky joined the Tennessee Titans cheerleading squad in 2023 after spending four years as a cheerleader for Penn State University.

While in college, she made the Dean’s List, was part of the Honor Society, received the Penn State Cheerleading MVP, earned the Penn State Cheerleading Leadership award, and had other notable accomplishments.

After joining the Titans’ cheerleading squad in 2023, Sekelsky is now taking her career in a different direction: To the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

She was announced as a participant in WWE’s new docuseries “Legends & Future Greats” (LFG) and will be working toward on-air in-ring performances.

WWE’s LFG will follow WWE recruits as they learn what it takes to make it in the business. They’ll be paired with a coach who will be their mentor as they navigate the ins and outs of constructing a match, learning the moves, fixing mistakes, and what happens if you botch a move.

Professional wrestling is a grueling business that demands everything you can give it and more. WWE recruits only the top athletes, and cheerleaders are at the top of the list for their high-flying abilities than fans clamor for.

Sekelsky is one of those recruits, and we’ll be able to watch her journey up close on Sunday, February 16 at 8:00 p.m. EDT on A&E.

NFL Analyst gives zero Round 1 grades to prospective quarterbacks

The 2025 NFL draft is right around the corner and all the buzz is around who the Tennesse Titans will select with the first overall pick. With glaring quarterback issues, the consensus is that the Titans will select a quarterback with the top pick, but is that really the right call?

NFL analyst Matt Miller recently graded this year’s draft prospects and only 12 names ended up with first-round grades. Not one of those players was a quarterback.

One year after seeing six quarterbacks drafted in the first round, the 2025 class has zero passers with a true first-round grade. Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Miami’s Cam Ward would have both been ranked behind Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye and even J.J. McCarthy in 2024.

Both Sanders and Ward are talented and have the potential to rise in the predraft process, but I wouldn’t be comfortable calling them first-round prospects based on this past season’s tape. That doesn’t mean they won’t be drafted in the first round, though. In fact, it’s a safe bet that both get drafted in the top five selections; quarterbacks always go early.

Of the players he graded, one running back, one wide receiver, two tight ends, two offensive tackles, three edge rushers, one defensive tackle, and two cornerbacks were granted first-round grades.

It is largely thought that the Titans will select a quarterback with their first pick, but as more evaluations and interviews take place, the more likely it seems the Titans will trade out of that spot.

Free agency begins in less than a month and that will give us clues as to what the Titans’ true plans are for the draft. The 2025 NFL draft will take place at the end of April in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

NFL analyst believes Titans can go from 'worst to first' in 2025

There is no doubt that the Tennessee Titans were a disappointment in 2024. Their 3-14 record led to massive changes within the organization and those will likely continue during roster construction.

For fans, the good news is that the Titans have the ammunition to turn things around by having solid draft capital and salary cap space. They also have some NFL history on their side.

Every NFL season, a team that is coming off a dismal campaign that landed them in the top five of the NFL draft seems to bounce back and make a playoff run.

Last season, it was the Washington Commanders. The Commanders rode rookie phenom Jayden Daniels and made a huge jump in the standings. Analyst Emory Hunt told CBS Sports HQ which teams he believes could make that jump in 2025.

Who can pull off a “Worst to First” this season like the Commanders?

My guesses: #Titans & #Panthers pic.twitter.com/C5DAZhOk0u

— Emory Hunt (@FBallGameplan) February 15, 2025

“That roster, to me, is not that bad at all. They just need a quarterback,” Hunt said. “Any quarterback you add, Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders, makes this team a playoff team.”

He’s not wrong. The Titans’ roster is not that bad and injuries did take a toll in 2024. Plus, the AFC South isn’t the strongest division in the NFL. However, unless the Titans make some major changes to the offensive line, they could still struggle.

New general manager Mike Borgonzi should have a great understanding of how to attack this offseason coming from Kansas City. Not only did the Chiefs franchise go from worst to first, they went from worst to dynasty.

Can the Titans make that jump in 2025? Let us know if you believe the Titans can be a playoff team in 2025.

NFL analyst, Titans unlikely to use franchise tag

The Tennessee Titans are already knee deep in the offseason and there is no doubt that the new front office in Nashville is busy. Whether preparing for the NFL draft in April or the start of the free agency period in March, there is a lot to be done to improve on their 3-14 record.

The next official step in the NFL’s offseason process is the franchise tag window. The two-week period opens Tuesday and runs until March 4. During this period, each team is allowed to tag one player who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent. Doing so would keep the player with the franchise for the 2025 season.

The Titans have the salary cap space to accomplish such a move if the front office deems it necessary. The big question is: Will the Titans need to use it? According to Turron Davenport of ESPN, that’s unlikely.

Tennessee Titans

The Titans don’t have any franchise-altering players in this year’s free agent class. Receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine will draw some interest after finishing with eight touchdown receptions last season. Tennessee would be wise to bring him back. Other free agents the Titans should consider bringing back on lower-cost deals include right guard Dillon Radunz and defensive lineman Sebastian Joseph-Day. But none of them are the caliber of player that would warrant franchise tag consideration.

The franchise tag requires a large financial commitment and is based on the top five annual salaries at each position. In looking at the Titans’ roster and the players mentioned above, none are worth such a high price tag in 2025.

The Titans are scheduled to have roughly $50 million in salary cap space available in 2025 and there are better ways to use their money to retool their roster.

Cam Ward sends message to any NFL team that passes on him in the draft

The Tennessee Titans have the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft and it is largely thought that they will select a quarterback with that pick. That may not be the case, however, as more mock drafts show the Titans trading away that first pick and moving down to gain more draft capital.

Even if they don’t trade the first pick, they may not take a quarterback. They could choose to address the quarterback issue in free agency or via trade before they look at the draft. The team needs a quarterback who can contribute immediately, and optimism that either Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders can be that guy has decreased over the last few weeks.

However, Ward thinks he can be that guy and sent a message to any team that passes him over.

“If you don’t draft me, that’s your fault. You’ve got to remember you’re the same team that’s got to play me for the rest of my career, and I’ll remember that.” — #Miami QB Cam Ward.

👇
https://t.co/Dp3NbhkMqy

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) February 18, 2025

While leading the Hurricanes in 2024, Ward completed 67.2% of his passes. He recorded 4,313 passing yards and 39 touchdowns with just seven interceptions, and his rating was 172.2. Pretty decent stats for a college quarterback.

But the question remains: How will his skillset translate to the NFL and how long will it take? The Titans don’t want to start over again with their quarterback, so they’ll have to really evaluate what the draft prospects have to offer.

And if they don’t draft Ward, well, apparently he’s going to remember that.

Every year, the NFL reviews the salary cap and determines how much of an increase to include based on various financial factors throughout the league. The 2025 NFL year starts next month, and on Wednesday, the league announced the new increase.

The NFL today informed teams that the 2025 per-team salary cap will fall in the range of $277.5 million to $281.5 million, way up from last year’s $255.4 million. Cap will have increased by more than $53 million over the last two years.

We’re getting a range instead of an actual number because the league office is waiting to hear from the NFL Players Association on how it wants to reinstate the 2025 deferral.

So, as soon as the league gets confirmation from the NFLPA, teams will learn the actual salary cap increase. As it stands, the minimum increase would be over $22 million. That means the Titans will have over $51 million in cap space to work with by 2025, according to Over the Cap.

Considering the amount of work Mike Borgonzi and Brian Callahan must do, the increase is most welcome in Tennessee.

See it: Potential Titans draft targets exchange playful banter during workout

When it comes to the NFL draft, quarterbacks are always a hot commodity. Every team wants the next Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, or Aaron Rodgers, and they’re hoping to find him before anyone else.

The 2025 NFL draft is no different, and the Tennessee Titans have the benefit of the first overall pick.

The consensus is that Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders are the top two quarterbacks in this year’s draft, with Jaxson Dart coming in third.

Recently, Ward and Sanders worked out together and exchanged friendly jabs at one another.

“They gave you a completion percentage award and all you did was throw check-downs and bubble screens,” Ward said. “If I did that, my completion percentage would be 90. I throw the ball downfield, you don’t.”

To which Sanders replied, “You had a run game.”

Before Ward’s statement, Sanders razzed him about his consistency.

The two prospects are friends, and their exchanges are good-natured. But don’t mistake that for complacency, either. Both players have a healthy level of competition that keeps them working hard. Trash-talking your friend not only keeps the competition going, but it makes the weight of what they are doing easier to bear.

The Titans have been incredibly quiet on their plans for the first overall pick. They may draft one of these quarterbacks, or they may not, or they could trade the pick and another team will draft one of these quarterbacks. The truth is, we won’t really know until they want us to know.
