If San Antonio wins a championship this year, do you think it will be the end of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Gregg Popovich? They are all getting up there in age and it might be the perfect way to go out. They already have Aldridge and Leonard to take over after and Pop has been grooming his female assistant to most likely take over the reigns after he leaves. The Spurs age has always been a question, and this team could very well rack up another title, do you see them walking into the sunset with one final championship as a group and calling it quits?

The Spurs aging team has been a topic of conversation for many years now. Unfortunately, I feel as though the team spends a lot of their available salary funds on keeping these aging players active. Because of this, it has left very little money left over to recruit new and upcoming talent. They do have some good young players, as you mentioned, but I feel like it's not quite enough to keep them competitive if their top three (Duncan, Parker, Ginobili) leave at or around the same time. I hope that the Spurs have the good sense and foresight in their front office to recruit new players in shorter initial contracts so they can see if they mesh well together first. I think a lot of teams make the mistake of recruiting young players and giving them long contracts right away. This is oftentimes a mistake in my opinion. When you do that, you run the risk of signing a player that may be good, but lacks the much-needed chemistry with the rest of the team. I saw this same thing happen years ago when the Cavs first had LeBron, before he left for Miami.... their team was good but they didn't have players that had the necessary chemistry with their star. It was ultimately one of the reasons that I left in my opinion.
