Two of them laid down today. And the preseason schedule started three days ago.

The NHL suspended Flames forward Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond for four pre-season games and one regular season game on Thursday for his actions in a game Tuesday against Vancouver.

Letourneau-Leblond received two minutes for boarding and a ten-minute misconduct for his hit from behind to Vancouver forward Matt Clackson 14:47 into the third period.

Philadelphia Flyers forward Jody Shelley was suspended five pre-season games and five regular season games on Thursday for his hit from behind on Darryl Boyce of the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday night.

Boyce went to the dressing room following the hit with a broken nose but later returned to the game.

I have a feeling Shanahan's going to have his hands full this year. Thoughts?
 
I'm in support of both calls. I just hope that Shanahan stays consistent the whole year. I hope he doesn't just call these two and then never call any again.
 
i think Shanny has more brains then that tool CC, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot more this year then last year. Watch out Cooke, Shanny's watching.

Buffalo Sabres forward Brad Boyes has been suspended for two pre-season games for an illegal hit to the head of Toronto Maple Leafs forward Joe Colborne.

The incident occurred at 1:46 of the first period of Saturday's 3-2 Sabres victory.

Minnesota Wild forward Brad Staubitz has been suspended for the balance of the pre-season and three regular season games for an illegal check that took place during the third period of Friday's pre-season game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Early in the third period, Staubitz hit Blue Jackets forward Cody Bass from behind and was assessed a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct on the play.

Columbus Blue Jackets defenceman James Wisniewski has been suspended for the remainder of the pre-season and eight regular season games for a check to the head that took place at the end of the third period of Friday's pre-season game against the Minnesota Wild in St. Paul.

Following an exchange between Wild forward Cal Clutterbuck and Blue Jackets defenceman Fedor Tyutin, Wisniewski hit Clutterbuck in head and was given a minor penalty. This incident occurred after the clock had expired in the third.

EDIT: And one more today.

Anaheim Ducks forward Jean-Francois Jacques has been suspended for the remainder of the pre-season and for five regular season games for a violation of rule 70 which governs any player who on a legal line change comes onto the ice for the expressed purpose of starting a fight.

In Saturday's pre-season game against the Vancouver Canucks, the 26-year-old forward entered the playing surface via a legal line change and went right after the Canucks' Mike Duco to engage in a fight.
