Steve Nash is going to the Los Angeles Lakers, a Pacific Division rival the two-time MVP point guard tried so hard to beat, with little success, in his eight seasons with the Phoenix Suns.

At Nash's request, the Lakers and Suns reached a sign-and-trade deal, with Los Angeles using the trade exception it got when it sent Lamar Odom to Dallas to facilitate the transaction.

The 38-year-old Nash, who spent the past eight seasons with the Suns, was a free agent but a sign-and-trade agreement was necessary for the Lakers to afford him. He agreed to a three-year, $27 million contract. In return, the Suns get four draft picks - first rounders in 2013 and 2015 and second rounders in 2013 and 2014.

Nash's agent Bill Duffy said the deal was finalized Wednesday about 6 p.m., PDT.

All I can say... Wow. I don't think it makes them an NBA Finals team though. All five of their starters will have at least one all-star appearance if Steve Nash does in fact go to the Lakers once it becomes official. It wouldn't surprise me if the Lakers trade Pau Gasol though. Also, they can afford to make a run at Dwight Howard, apparently.

It's official. The Suns get 4 draft picks in return.

This is the last place I wanted him to go.

I meant verbal agreement official. :P

It's not official if it's said verbally though. It's like young athletes committing to a college and then changing their mind later. It's not official until there's some kind of official document. If the Suns receive a better sign-and-trade offer from a playoff team that Steve Nash would prefer playing at, this probably won't happen. :P

I have never liked the Lakers for some reason. I remember playing "Kobe Bryant in NBA Courtside" on the Nintendo 64 when I was like six years old and I always hated Kobe Bryant especially for some reason. I mean, I didn't know anything about the NBA and I didn't like basketball at all, but my friend gave me the game and I figured I'd try it out. I remember I used the Lakers, but I took out Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant, put in a couple of my custom players who were amazing, and then I put in Nick Van Exel. It may sound stupid that I used the Lakers even though I didn't like them, but I liked Nick Van Exel. I was a beast. I don't think we have anything to worry about though, Kobe Bryant isn't getting a sixth championship ring. Steve Nash will make the Lakers better, but they're not an NBA Finals team. The Thunder will be too good for them, even if they lose James Harden.
