Should college be a requirement for professional sports like the NFL, NBA? This has been a debate in sports for a while. Some argue that college prepares players and improves their work ethic, but others believe players should be able to decide themselves. What's your opinion?

I am in the minority, but I do not think they should be required to go to college. If they have the talent, and professional teams are willing to take the risk, that is their choice. People forget sports is a profession just like any other, and not all professions require degrees to fulfill them.

Is a car or insurance salesman required to go to college? In most cases, no. It depends on the employer and the skills and experience of the employee. It is up to both to decide, and should not be decided by some arbitrary rule.

I don't think so. They should be tested on physical and mental strength, not their education level. I don't think people that don't go to college have bad work ethics. When people don't go to college, they'll apply for a job to earn some money. So chances are their professionalism is probably much better than people from college.

I really think that players should be able to decide themselves.  Let's face it.  Not all of us are college material and no one should be forced to go to college if they don't want to attend.  I do think that college is a good idea to develop players at a higher level and to give them some education about things like managing their money and public speaking for interviews.  However, there are some players in various sports that have really been great straight out of high school, like Kobe and LeBron.  I definitely think that it depends upon the individual.

I believe a lot of bigger problems are around professional athletes. This is not really an issue. I mean they do not use anything they learned in college on the pitch or field or whatever. They just get the diploma without having to learn as much as the other guys who are not professionals or are going to be one day. My concern is the wage they get. It is not normal for people who do so little to common good to have these figures and people who did and are still doing great stuff for the community and the whole planet actually have a hard time to even survive.

No, not at all. Although education is an important part of society, if they enjoy doing what they love and are good at it then why should they be forced to get a college degree to play a sport professionally? It also doesn't help with the fact that Division I athletes don't get paid. But that's a whole different story.
