Rangers-Islanders trade

I don't understand why the Islanders did this. Trade a former 3rd round pick, yet to play a NHL game, and has 29 pts in 50 games (thats ok for a defenceman) for a 6th round pick. I just don't see how that will help them. They shouldn't be trading away youth...

Oh, and this is the 1st trade between the two teams in a LOOOONG time. I guess they felt ok trading cuz of the Oilers-Flames trade at this years trade deadline. And I'm not sure if this Niemi is related to the Blackhawks Antii Niemi. But I think he is.

not bad until you look at the WHL site and realize he is tied 189. in the league.

Thats still not that bad. For a 6th round pick, thats still a steal.
