The Washington Redskins moved aggressively in the first minutes of free agency Tuesday to find some targets for Robert Griffin III, agreeing to terms with Pierre Garcon and Josh Morgan while pursuing Eddie Royal.

The Redskins also re-signed defensive end Adam Carriker and were working to add more on both sides of the ball, retaining their reputation as the one of the champions of the NFL offseason even as the cloud of a salary cap reduction from the league threatened to disrupt the team's plans.

Garcon's deal is a blockbuster: five years for $42.5 million with $20.5 million guaranteed, including an $11 million signing bonus.

Morgan agreed to a contract worth $12 million over the first two years, with $7.5 million guaranteed. His full contract is for five years, but the final three can be voided.

Carriker is set to return for $20 million over four years, with $7 million guaranteed.

"I wanted you all to hear it from me 1st before u saw it on the news... I will be signing with the Washington Redskins and I'm very excited about the opportunity in front of me," Garcon posted on his Facebook page less than an hour after the 4 p.m. ET start of the free agency period.

I really did not think Garcon was worth this amount of money, but it looks like his statistics are there. He was just under 1,000 receiving yards last year, and that was amidst a lineup of mediocre quarterbacks he had little to no chemistry with. I think he'll have a very good season statistically next season, but I don't think the Redskins will make the playoffs. Robert Griffin III is going to love him though, and Garcon will definitely help him have a successful rookie year.

No.... :(

Jim Irsay is seriously starting to piss me off majorly....

Sweet Mother, Sweet Mother, send your child unto me, for the sins of the idiotic must be baptized in blood and fear.

Don't worry, Reggie Wayne will be gone as well. :P

Anyways, he's cleaning house so he can build the team around Andrew Luck once he can really see his strengths and weaknesses. He's setting it up so Mr. Andrew Luck can be the building block that holds everything together. As instead of just throwing Andrew Luck into the mix of a bunch of other blocks already built up, he's taking them apart, and restarting with the buildings he's already built, so he can having the base building block be Andrew Luck. There's an analogy for you. Anyways, I'm sure the Colts did something similar when they drafted Peyton Manning. I honestly think he knows what he's doing, but I don't think Andrew Luck will turn out as planned. I don't really feel Andrew Luck is the next Peyton Manning, which is what they're looking for. I think Andrew Luck is a draft bust...

Haha very nice.

This is great for the Redskins, bad for the Colts. I really wish the Bengals could have picked him up, though... he'd fit perfectly for the team. Him and AJ Green would be a scary combo.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. It would be great if it works as planned (if it works like Bellicheck was able to do with Tom Brady), but it would set the Colts back years if it doesn't.
