Got this idea from Reddit. Post here to recommend movies and/or request a type of movie you're in the mood to watch and other members can suggest movies for you. You can also put review/recommendations for movies still in theaters telling members why they should or shouldn't go see it.

I'll start it off by recommending a movie I watched on Netflix recently called Following. It's Christopher Nolan's first movie, and it's only and hour and nine minutes long, so it's a pretty quick watch. If you're looking for movies to watch on Netflix, definitely check it out, especially if you like crime mysteries.

I also saw Thor: The Dark World at a theater last weekend, and I definitely recommend it. As good and even maybe better than the first Thor movie. Tom Hiddleston is great as Loki again, he really steals the show for most of the movie.

Cool idea for a thread. Does anyone have any good psychological thrillers (like Shutter Island) that they would recommend?

Rear Window, Silence of the Lambs, Se7en, Memento (this one is on Netflix), and Identity are some good one's I've seen.

I'd take some recommendations for this too. Probably my favorite genre.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'm not too familiar with the genre, but I watched Prisoners pretty recently and thought it was really good. You might wanna check that out if you get a chance.

EDIT: Also, where on Reddit is this idea from? Is it an entire subreddit?

I would highly recommend for thrillers / horror films these: Se7en, The Silence of Lambs, The Ring
They are very good and the plot is very interesting. I bet that you are going to love them. However, many people don't really want to watch something scary. A good science fiction movie is Gravity or Alien. Alien has much blood, haha. The Abyss is exceptional!
Personally, I am currently looking for a simple comedy which will definitely make me laugh. Do you have something in your mind?

Hmm... I'm not sure what you mean by "simple" but I have a few comedy favorites. I recently watched the "Cornetto Trilogy" (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End... none of which have anything to do with each other besides the director and the starring actors), and they're hilarious; definitely some of my favorite comedies. Then there's "The Other Guys" and "21 Jump Street" which are both pretty hysterical.

I don't watch many comedies but those are probably my favorites.

The Cornetto Trilogy is great. Another recent one that I thought was really funny was "This is the End."

EDIT: I watched A Beautiful Mind last night. Wow. Amazing movie. Go watch it.

I'm super excited to see Wolf of Wallstreet. Absolutely love DiCaprio and Scorsese. It's gotten some really good reviews already. Looks like DiCaprio might finally get an Oscar.

Ahhh same. Leonardo DiCaprio is my favorite actor and Scorsese is my favorite director. Plus it's written by Terrence Winter who writes for Boardwalk Empire. I need to see it ASAP.

Alright. I saw Wolf of Wallstreet. Holy crap, the amount of nudity and drug use in that movie is unbelievable. By far the most edgy movie I've ever seen. It was a really great movie, as good as any I've seen this (last) year, but just be prepared for a lot of adult scenes. There's almost too much, to be honest, it's ridiculous.

The Desolation of Smaug was a really good movie, and it was a great deal better than the first "The Hobbit". If you want to see it, but haven't seen the first one, I would highly recommend finding a way to see the first one before you view the second one. It was undoubtedly my favorite movie of the year.

Those with an appetite for suspense kind of movies I would suggest you go for Alfred Hitchcock movies. There is suspense and a kind of fear every step of the way. Off hand 'Birds' come to mind
