Michigan fired their men's football coach today.

I think just about everyone who knew even a little about college football saw this coming.

Yep. I wonder who will be their next coach.

No surprise at all...3years too late. He was doomed from the start here for one simple reason:he wasn't a "Michigan Man". Add to that his numerous scandals from West Virgina along with making history by making it the 1st time in UOFM history they were cited by the NCAA for rule violations. One of the most important numbers from his time here besides his record (15-22) is his 0-6 record v.s OSU&MSU, never a good thing when you can't beat either of your two big rivals. When it came time to play a ranked team he was terrible with his team going 1-13 v.s top25teams. His big10 record was dismal to say the least at 6-18. Even the noname teams that should have been easy wins he struggled against, including a loss to Toledo (HOME) and Maryland and a near loss to UMASS this year. To put it simple his welcome was wore out a long time ago, in fact imo it was as soon as he was hired. The next coach appears to be former UOFM QB and current Stanford HC Jim Harbaugh, if he declines Les Miles is also be thrown out there though I doubt he would leave a good program in LSU to come to a program in a disaster like Michigan. The offense is there now, if only they could get a coach who know what defense is. Rich Rod never really found what it meant to have a good defensive core or a any defense for that matter. His best year defensively was his first year that was an absolute disaster, he's slowly declined every year since falling to almost dead last among the 120 FBS this year. Also get a kicker that can actually kick some easy chip shots, worst kicker in college football goes to everybody who took turns kicking for the Wolverines this year. Way too many times they were forced to go for it on a 4th down this year instead of kicking it since there was no confidence in the kikcer if you want to call him that.

Now take the shredder away from the moron so he can't do what he did at WVU in shredding several important records, this was the first of many scandals that plagued him during his short tenure at Michigan.

That's my 2cents for the day

If I were Harbaugh, I probably would've gone to Michigan.

Just look at Iowa's basketball team, last year they sucked. This year, with a new coach (and not all that many new players) they almost beat Ohio State!

Half the time it's the coach's fault.

Well it won't be Kirk Ferentz. ;D

HOLD UP.

Michigan is denying the firing of Rich Rod...if this is true this has to be one of the biggest believed gossip reports ever...

I have a feeling they were planning on firing him (but didn't actually do it yet), that leaked out, and while everyone was hearing about it Michigan was finding out that their top candidates have zero interest in a job. Then they did a complete 180.

Yeah, but the situation in Michigan is a little different. Remember, Rodriguez runs a pretty unconventional offense. It's more of a spread offense that requires a mobile QB, lots of WRs, and few TEs. Harbaugh runs a pretty tradition pro offense. Most of the players who fit that traditional offense have transferred out of U-Mich by now, and all the recruits RichRod had been getting these last few years fit more into his type of offense.

According to reports by ESPN Harbaugh has turned down an offer to coach UOFM with a guaranteed salary of 5.2million per season.

Haha....

"WHAT? We didn't fire him!!!!!! That's a lie!"
NEXT DAY
"Ok, you're fired."

why waste the time of having a second meeting when the decision was probably made long before the meeting yesterday?
