ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers took what general manager Jon Daniels called a "flier" on Wednesday, agreeing to terms on a minor-league deal with outfielder Manny Ramirez, who said he will donate his salary to charity.

"[My salary] is the minimum wage, but for me it's too much money," Ramirez told ESPNDeportes.com's Enrique Rojas.

Ramirez, 41, was assigned to Triple-A Round Rock and will report there on Thursday. He will work out with Round Rock before he plays in a game.

"I feel blessed spiritually; I have no words to describe how happy I am," Ramirez said.

Via ESPN, Manny Ramirez is back in the MLB with the Texas Rangers. Will he make the majors?

I don't really understand this move. I heard he was trying to make a comeback, but his Major League Baseball career is over. I would be shocked if he made it to the majors. They might call him up as a publicity stunt, since they already have him in Triple-A.

This is the Rangers we're talking about though. They are in for it all, and are going to be in the playoff hunt the whole year. They don't need a distraction on their team, and he won't perform well enough to take anyone's roster spot. Only way he makes team is if there are some injuries.

Yeah, even still, they will probably sell a lot more tickets down in Triple-A because of him. I think the publicity is probably worth the minimum salary, which is going to charity anyways. I am kind of surprised the Rays didn't take another chance on him. Luke Scott has not been performing at the designated hitter position this year.
