The university of Kansas has fired their men's football coach, Turner Gill, after two years of coaching at the university. Gill led Kansas to 2-10 record this season. Coach Gill said he expected to get a 3rd year, as that's how long it took him to find success at Buffalo.
Illinois University has also fired their men's football head coach, Ron Zook, after 7 years of coaching them. Their record this year is 6-6, and they are bowl eligible. Zook was 34-51 all time at Illinois, leading the Fighting Illini to their first Rose Bowl since the 1980s. They started the season 6-0, but dropped their last 6 games of the season. They are believed to be the first team to do that in FBS history.
UCLA told their men's football head coach, Rick Neuheisel, he will not return as their coach next season, but will coach the Bruins in the PAC-12 title game on Friday. The Bruins were 6-6 this year under Neuheisel, the only reason their playing in the title game is because the real PAC-12 South champs, USC, is ineligible to play in it.
Thoughts? I think the Illinois and Kansas moves were needed, the UCLA decision really isn't a good or bad decision, I think they could have gone either way. Kansas has just plain sucked the past 2 years though, remember when they were actually pretty good 3 years ago? Yeah, me neither.
