I had admin approval set at one point, and that stopped the spammers, but then I just got thousands of registrations of spam accounts that I needed to approve or disapprove. It would take a lot of time to go through all the accounts, so I would just delete all of them, but there could end up being legitimate accounts in the mix. So, I am not doing that anymore. I have email activation set right now. It obviously hasn't stopped the spammers, but things are a lot better than before. Also, I have made the CAPTCHA more difficult a couple times now. Since I have done all this, now we have reached the point where we get like four of five spammers a day that actually post on the forum. This is definitely progress, but when all of these spammers are making 60+ posts each, it is hard to tell that any progress is being made. Fortunately, the way things are now on makes it a lot easier for me. I can delete an account and all the posts made by that account at the same time.
As I have said in the general chat topic, I apologize for the ongoing issue with spam. The person who will be able to install a new CAPTCHA modification to stop the spam is currently busy with school and stuff. As I am sure you guys know, it is that time of the year.
