I read an article that it's very unlikely for High School athletes to become Professional Athletes later in life. Do you believe in this statement, why or why not?

Honestly I would have to go against, I just don't think they would. If a College Athlete were to become a Professional one, then that is understandable, but I feel that High School athletes always change their mind or do not have the skills to become a professional later in life.

I have some past experience about this matter. When I was a teenager, I used to play in my school's basketball team. Of course, I was not so good, that's why I didn't want to continue my fake career. However, most of my friends were very interested in becoming Professionals. Unfortunately, all of them never achieved to become.
I totally agree with you Eclipse. Most of them usually change their mind because they understand that they are not so talented or that they want to study and get educated in order to find a better job with a satisfying salary.

I think that this is kind of a tough issue. I can really see both sides, where if a kid is 18 and he has the opportunity to go make a living at something that they are good at then why not. At the same time, though, I think that it is pretty well understood that these kids are usually not quite ready to make the jump, because they are just that, kids. I would have to say that it is their rights though, and nobody should take that away.

Honestly, I feel indifferent about this. Look at Lebron James, he went off to play pro-basketball straight from high school. I don't even think he was completely done with high school when he started playing pro ball (though, I could be wrong). I think that it might be hard for some of them, especially if they want to go off to college or something. But, all that said, they should have the right to choose if the opportunity presents itself.

Well, here's another one for you: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/15127862/five-star-f-thon-maker-plans-declare-draft">http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/15127 ... lare-draft</a><!-- m -->

Five-star forward Thon Maker announced Sunday that he plans to declare for the 2016 NBA draft.

Maker made the announcement via a Bleacher Report video, and sources confirmed to ESPN that Maker and his circle have been exploring the option for a while.

The biggest question concerns Maker's eligibility to be drafted. NBA rules state that a player must be at least 19 years old and one year removed from high school. Maker turned 19 in February but still attends Orangeville Prep (Canada). Maker's case for eligibility would come down to convincing the NBA that he was a member of the 2015 class and decided to do a post-graduate year. Maker spent eighth grade at Metairie Park Country Day School (Louisiana), then ninth and 10th grade at Carlisle School (Virginia), before moving to Orangeville Prep for the past two years.
