I think the Lakers are done contending for the next few years. If Dwight Howard doesn't stay with the Lakers, they are on the brink of being a rebuilding team. Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant, and Pau Gasol are on their way out.
As for the Heat, as much as I would like to see a three-peat, it is very unlikely. They had a close series against the Bulls and the Pacers on their way to the NBA Finals. During the Bulls vs. Heat, the Bulls were without their best player, Derrick Rose. During the Pacers vs. Heat series, the Pacers were without Danny Granger. Next, in the Western Conference, the Oklahoma City Thunder is rising. They probably would have been in the NBA Finals, but they were without Russell Westbrook in the playoffs. That killed them. All of these players are expected to be back next season, and all of these teams are expected to contend for the NBA Finals. To top things off, there are other teams that definitely have a chance to contend for a title. Take a look at the Nets for example. The starting five is probably going to be Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Brook Lopez. That is an all-star lineup, but three of these players only have a few more years left. Still, they will definitely be in the playoffs. Who knows, they could be like the Lakers were last season, or they might not be. Then there's the Knicks and Rockets. The Knicks are definitely going to be contending in the playoffs. The Rockets are on the rise. They are probably the youngest team in the league, but in my opinion, they are on their way to being one of the best teams in the league as well. In addition, I have not even mentioned the team that lost in the NBA Finals this year. The Spurs will definitely be in the hunt. They have a good chance to be in the NBA Finals, if they can beat the Thunder.
Being bias though, I am going to go with the Heat winning the Eastern Conference. Then I think the Thunder will take the Western Conference. The Heat will beat the Thunder in six games, with a 4-2 series win. That's what I want to happen, anyways.
