The Atlanta Falcons released running back Michael Turner, defensive end John Abraham, and corner back Dunta Robinson. All three players in their 30s, I think this is a situation where the Falcons probably think their better off developing younger players, instead of having players who can play to their full potential for only a few more seasons. I think all three players can be replaced. If you look at Turner's stats, he had 800 yards on 222 attempts. That's only an average of 3.6 yards per rush. Robinson and Abraham were definitely a big part of Atlanta's defense, but the Falcons have several young players at both positions that I think can step in if Atlanta doesn't pick anyone up, plus another veteran corner back, Asante Samuel.

Thoughts on the releases?

Yeah just the Falcons trying to cut costs and get younger at certain positions. Michael Turner will definitely be picked up as he is still a pretty good running back.

You have to start looking towards the future eventually. I don't necessarily agree with releasing Michael Turner though. They should have a pretty good chance at the Super Bowl, so I kind of feel like they should have kept Michael Turner for the next couple seasons, in their chase for the championship. Michael Turner is still a quality running back though, so I expect him to be picked up pretty quickly. I would love for the Steelers to pick him up, if they can afford him. I heard that Michael Turner was released because of a failed physical though, so that is definitely something to keep in mind.
