Chip Kelly hired by Eagles

After originally saying he was going to remain the head coach of the Oregon Ducks, Chip Kelly has accepted an offer to coach the Philadelphia Eagles starting next season. Kelly will be the 21st coach in the franchises' history.

Kelly went 46-7 in four seasons with the Ducks, and was interviewed by the Eagles, Bills, and Browns after coaching Oregon past Kansas St. in the Fiesta Bowl.

The Eagles interviewed 11 people, including Seahawks DC Gus Bradley two times.

Thoughts on the hiring? This news shocked me. If I were in the Oregon football scene, I would feel pretty betrayed right now. If he wasn't for sure about staying yet, he probably should have just kept his mouth shut about what he was or wasn't going to do.

Wow, now I'm pissed at Chip Kelly he disrespected Oregon by going out like this. He probably did it like this so he could get more attention as that is how he always is. Still, he was a very important part of the Ducks and he did help the Ducks get to the Rose Bowl twice, BCS bowl, and Tostito's Bowl. I don't think he will do as well in the NFL like in the NCAA there's no doubt about that. We'll see what happens to his play system next season.

I was surprised when I heard this. If I was in his shoes, I probably would have stayed in Oregon. I know there's the glamor to being an NFL head coach, but what he has done at Oregon shows that he probably belongs in the NCAA, just like Nick Saban. Also, he had interviews with the Eagles, Bills, and Browns. If he would have become the Browns head coach, he would have been gone in two or three years probably. You don't see very many coaches last in Cleveland, even with the hope that has been displayed from young guys like Brandon Weeden and Trent Richardson. If he would have become the head coach of the Bills, he might have lasted a little while, but that franchise is in a difficult situation right now as well. They have Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller, but that is pretty much it at this point. So, he accepted the Eagles head coaching position, where the fans have been known to be rude and quickly turn on head coaches when they don't like what they see. Let's see how that turns out...
