Mahomes spent three years with the Red Raiders, putting up gaudy passing numbers but with a losing record as a starter. Mahomes went 13-16 as a starter, but as a senior threw for 5,052 yards and 41 touchdowns, while rushing for 12 touchdowns.

RGIII sees common thread in both of Patrick Mahomes' Super Bowl losses

The Kansas City Chiefs fell short in their quest to complete the NFL’s first-ever championship three-peat when they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.

Though the reasons for the Chiefs’ loss were many, former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III took to Twitter to share his thoughts on what made the game go sideways for Kansas City.

In Griffin’s assessment, the Chiefs’ offensive line was to blame for Kansas City’s latest Super Bowl defeat, continuing a concerning trend from the team’s loss to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV.

Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy claps back at Panthers legend on Twitter

The Kansas City Chiefs were defeated by the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, but the efforts of rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy were the least of the team’s problems in the blowout loss.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce opens up about future after Super Bowl LIX loss: 'I owe it to my teammates'

One of the top questions following the Kansas City Chiefs’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX was the plans of Travis Kelce. Rumors emerged during the weekend that the ten-time Pro Bowler is considering retirement this offseason.

“I’m going to take some time to figure it out,” said Kelce. “I think I owe it to my teammates that if I do come back, it’s going to be something that, it’s a wholehearted decision.”

Kelce turns 36 in October and has already carved out a lane in entertainment after football.

While Hopkins was far from being the highest-paid wide receiver in the league, he was among the highest-paid receivers on Kansas City’s roster.

When he was added by the team in October, Hopkins helped sustain a receiving core that was plagued by injuries. Rashee Rice, Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown, Mecole Hardman and Skyy Moore missed much of the Chiefs’ campaign sidelined on injured reserve.

Report: Chiefs to hire Jackson State assistant Chris Orr to coaching staff

The Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl LIX loss to the Philadelphia Eagles halted their chances at a three-peat and opened the door for some changes.

According to a CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz report, The Chiefs are hiring Chris Orr as a quality control coach. The former Wisconsin Badgers standout was welcomed to Chiefs Kingdom by Chiefs linebacker and fellow alum Leo Chenal.

He played one season with the Carolina Panthers in 2020 before joining Wisconsin’s staff as the director of player development in 2021. He played in the USFL for a stint and re-entered the coaching with the Jackson State staff.

Chiefs scouting report: Kentucky Wildcats CB Maxwell Hairston

The Kansas City Chiefs ran into cornerback depth issues during the 2024 regular season, and their secondary struggled to play lockdown coverage against the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. Chiefs general manager Brett Veach must invest in some new cornerback options in the 2025 NFL draft.

Kentucky Wildcats cornerback Maxwell Hairston is a slim 5’11 1/4″, 179 lbs redshirt junior with only 1,068 career defensive snaps under his belt. He missed a significant chunk of the 2024 season with a shoulder injury but led the SEC in interceptions during his healthy 2023 campaign. Hairston is a smooth athlete with impressive mental processing, vision, and closing burst.

Hairston lacks the reliable press technique to re-route receivers at the line of scrimmage consistently. However, his recovery speed and stickiness at the top of the route stem allow him to lockdown receivers when playing man coverage off the line of scrimmage. He makes quick adjustments to get in phase and stay attached to in-breaking routes.

Hairston’s ability to challenge or close throwing windows at the top of the stem on intermediate routes jumps off the tape. His quick deceleration, transition and closing burst help him remain attached through route breaks. He lacks elite downfield speed but possesses enough recovery speed to get in phase after losing a step early in the play.

Hairston’s processing and flashes of anticipation help him jump routes, especially when playing zone coverage. He stays disciplined in his zone and uses leverage to deter throws. Hairston occasionally gets caught with his eyes in the backfield and loses track of his assignment.

Hairston comes downhill to challenge runs and screens but lacks the play strength to provide consistent support. He struggles to stack and shed blocks.

Analysts can’t agree on an ideal draft positioning for Hairston. The Athletic’s Dane Brugler listed him as the 54th prospect and sixth-highest-ranked cornerback on his recent top 100 big board. The Chiefs could try to move up and grab Hairston toward the middle of the second round.

The 2025 NFL combine will begin on Thursday, February 27, and end on Sunday, March 2.

Drills start at 2 p.m. CST on February 27 and 28, and at 12 p.m. CST on March 1 and 2.

Kicking Trent McDuffie outside took some of the bite out of the Kansas City Chiefs’ secondary. The team needs to add more commanding presences to support their All-Pro cornerback. Fortunately, the 2025 NFL draft features a deep pool of corners with experience playing outside and the feistiness to thrive in the slot.

Muhammad amassed more than 2,800 defensive snaps across his college career, including notable seasons for three separate programs. He possesses the football IQ to challenge for a top-100 selection, but his undersized frame drops his draft stock significantly. Muhammad is only 5’9″, 185 lbs. with 29″ arms. That’s good mass for a smaller defensive back, but Muhammad’s height and arm length fall far below the league’s preferred thresholds.



Muhammad gained some experience operating in the slot over the past three seasons, so kicking inside at the NFL level shouldn’t be an issue. He stays low in his backpedal and displays quick footwork to mirror and match releases in press coverage. His change of direction allows him to mirror complex routes and quickly close ground to contest throws.

Muhammad is a master at maximizing leverage to drive receivers into help coverage, squeeze throwing lanes, and deter quarterbacks from testing him. He smoothly transitions between routes in zone coverage with impressive poise and processing speed. Muhammad’s closing burst helps him undercut short to intermediate routes for pass breakups.



Muhammad reads the quarterback’s eyes to anticipate throws. Despite his limited stature, hehighpointss the ball well. Receivers struggle to keep the competitive corner from raking the ball out of their hands at the catch point.

Muhammad is an older prospect who lacks ideal measurables. His hips have a slight hitch, and he lacks the size and jam technique to provide value in press coverage.
