The Kansas City Chiefs have signed former Raiders CB, Stanford Routt, to a 3-year deal, with $6.5 in guarantees. He will make $11 million this season.

Other teams in consideration of signing Routt included the Bengals, Bills, Vikings, Cowboys, and Saints.

The signing is probably largely due to the Chiefs possibly losing CB Brandon Carr, who is an unrestricted free agent. The Chiefs already have Brandon Flowers and Eric Berry in their secondary for sure.

Routt had 4 interceptions last year, but tied for 2nd in the league for being credited with giving up 8 TD receptions.

Thoughts?

I've never even heard of the guy, but I guess it's a good deal for them. The Chiefs are a team on the rise, and are a very possible playoff team next year. A lot of people forgot they made the playoffs 2 years ago. And this year they got screwed with injuries to their QB, RB, TE, and star Safety. They also play in the AFC west so it's pretty easy to win there. So they have a great chance of making the playoffs next year.
