Broward County Circuit Judge Kathleen McHugh accepted Johnson's apology and cut his 30-day jail term for a probation violation to the seven days he has already served since the rear-swatting incident. Johnson, a flamboyant wide receiver formerly known as Chad Ochocinco, said in court that he'd had time to think about why his flippant attitude was wrong -- especially in a domestic violence case.

That's not why he's in jail, and that's most definitely not what I'm defending.
 
She chose not to accept his plea deal. She didn't have to accept it. The judge was a woman. The case involved violence against a woman. Chad Johnson was making jokes in court. He got burned. Chad Johnson is a moron.
 
The judge had accepted his plea deal without making an official ruling. He made a joke (a stupid one that he shouldn't have made, sure) and the judge changed her mind because she wanted him to take it seriously. It was an abuse of power for her to sentence him to a month in jail solely for a little joke. Headbutting his wife isn't why he was in jail. A joke is why.

I'm not defending him headbutting his wife in the slightest. I'm only saying that the judge shouldn't have sentenced him to jail time for nothing more than a joke.
