Thought some of you might find this interesting. I'll start off with 6 players that started in the CFL and then moved to the NFL. You'll probably know most of them.

1. WARREN MOON – QB

CFL: Edmonton Eskimos
NFL: Houston Oilers, Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs.

Here’s how good Warren Moon was: He is the only player ever to be inducted into both the CFL and NFL Hall of Fame.

Moon was selected to nine NFL Pro Bowls and had a prolific professional career in North America, and his CFL achievements match his NFL exploits. He threw for 21,228 yards and 144 touchdowns in the CFL, before going on to throw for 49,325 and 291 touchdown passes in an outstanding NFL career.

2. JOE THEISMANN – QB

CFL: Toronto Argonauts
NFL: Washington Redskins

Theismann is best known for winning the MVP Award and the Super Bowl with the Washington Redskins in 1983.

3. MIKE VANDERJAGT – K

CFL: Saskatchewan Roughriders, Toronto Argonauts
AFL: Tampa Bay Storm
NFL: Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys

Vanderjagt is the most accurate field goal kicker in the history of the CFL and NFL. Vanderjagt was cut by four different CFL teams his first three years out of college, and was finally picked up by the Toronto Argonauts. It proved to be a smart decision by the Argonauts, as Vanderjagt went nine-for-nine in two championship games that the team won.

4. DOUG FLUTIE – QB

CFL: BC Lions, Calgary Stampeders, Toronto Argonauts
USFL: New Jersey Generals
NFL: Chicago Bears, New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills, San Diego Chargers, New England Patriots

Flutie is widely regarded as the greatest player in the history of the CFL. In eight CFL seasons, Flutie won a record six MVP Awards, along with three Grey Cup Championships. Flutie owns a number of passing records in the CFL and in 2008, he was inducted into the CFL Hall of Fame.

5. JEFF GARCIA – QB

CFL: Calgary Stampeders
UFL: Omaha Nighthawks
NFL: San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Philadelphia Eagles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Oakland Raiders, Houston Texans

Garcia started his four year CFL career as Flutie’s backup with the Calgary Stampeders. In 1995, when Flutie left for the Argonauts, Garcia became the starter for the Calgary, and led them to three successful seasons, including a Grey Cup Championship win in 1998.

6.RAGHIB ‘ROCKET ‘ISMAIL – WR/KR

CFL: Toronto Argonauts
NFL: Los Angeles Raiders, Carolina Panthers, Dallas Cowboys

Raghib Ismail was projected to be the first pick in the 1991 NFL Draft after an All-American career at Notre Dame. Instead of heading to the NFL, ‘Rocket’ Ismail signed a record $18.2 million dollar, four-year contract to play for the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL.

The deal paid off for the Argonauts, as Ismail had a stellar rookie season. He led the Argonauts to the Grey Cup and was the game’s MVP in a winning effort for Toronto. However, his second season in the CFL did not go as well, as the Argonauts slumped and finished with a 6-12 record. It would be Ismail’s last season in the CFL, as finally decided he wanted to play in the NFL.

Next is a player who started in the CFL, and then moved to the NFL.

Brandon was undrafted in the NFL, but was signed by the Denver Broncos. He was released to make room for other players, but quickly signed with the Calgary Stampeders in the CFL. He won a Grey Cup with the team in 2008, and was the only member of the defense to make the Allstar team in 2009.

In 2011 he signed with the Seattle Sseahawks, where he started every game of the season last year. He returned an interception for a touchdown from 94 yards, which is a franchise record.

Warren Moon was a beast. He's the only player on that list that I have a lot of respect for though. Joe Theismann had two good seasons, but that was pretty much it. Jeff Garcia had a pretty long career, but he didn't do a very good job replacing Steve Young. He started off pretty good, but with Terrell Owens being a distraction and the 49ers seemingly getting worse, he was pretty much washed up after a few seasons. Doug Flutie was alright. I have always liked him, but looking him up, his statistics don't look that great. I read a book by Drew Brees and Drew Brees talked about Doug Flutie being his mentor when they both played for the Chargers, so that's something to respect. He just wasn't very good in the NFL.

My dad has a signed Doug Flutie jersey from when he played in the CFL.

Doug Flutie! I knew he was in that Hail Mary play against Miami when he was on BC, but I never knew he played in the CFL.

I know almost all of them.

I would think that you would be a little more mad when you remembered him. All I remember was his missed FG in the '05 AFC Championship vs. the Steelers.

That's pretty much the only bad thing I can remember about him though, and he was with us for quite a while. He did more good than bad.

Brandon Browner is a terrific defensive player and he's done very well for the Seahawks so far.

Yeah, he was one of my favourites when he played for the Stampeders.

Yeah, that play is one of the most amazing plays you'll ever see.
