Recap #4: Jackets could have used vintage Atkinson tonight

The highlight of the night was former Blue Jacket Cam Atkinson signing a one-day contract to retire as a member of the Union Blue, followed by taking one last lap in uniform around the Nationwide Arena ice during the pregame. The game that followed was…ooof. Colorado largely controlled play for the first period, but weren’t able to get anything past Elvis Merzlikins.

Recap #6: Elvis, Special Teams Star in Dallas

Kicking off a road trip in Dallas, could the Jackets get a win against one of the Western Conference favorites? Good pace to start the contest and the Jackets struck first when the new old second line recovered the puck in the offensive zone on the forecheck. KJ drew two defenders to the wall before hitting Jenner down low, who found Fantilli in the vacated space in near the dot.

Recap #10: Third Line shows up, does to Toronto what LA can’t

We all know that the first line of Dmitri Voronkov – Sean Monahan – Kirill Marchenko is one of the best in the league. The new fourth line of Miles Wood – Isac Lundestrom – Yegor Chinakhov won the game in Buffalo on Tuesday. The third line, consisting of Charlie Coyle, Cole Sillinger, and Mathieu Olivier, had been relatively quiet so far. Well, tonight ended that. While all of Ontario (and…

Recap #9: Miles Wood Knocks Out Buffalo in Return to Lineup

Fresh off a win in Pittsburgh, could the Jackets get above .500 with a win in Buffalo? A late lineup change, Gudbranson reportedly had some hip soreness in warmups and was scratched in favor of Christiansen. Columbus has gotten the jump on most teams in the first period this year and this one was a clinic on how they want to play. The forecheck was active and effective early and six…

Recap #12: Disaster at the Open and Close on Long Island

Local boy ZAR drew into the lineup at the expense of Chinakhov following a fourth consecutive win. Could Miles Wood be the key to unlocking the second line in his elevated role? Apparently only Elvis got the memo this game started at 5pm. The islanders dominated this entire period registering 17 shots on goal to the Blue Jacket’s 4. Elvis stood tall for nearly all of it…
