It is always better to choose your friends as you would go for those with mutual interests with you. They would have
Similar values and worldviews. You would sure of their character and behavior.
 
Sounds good. Only that there is risk of locking oneself in an echo chamber.
You also need friends who challenge your worldviews, in a respectful manner.
