Angeles Analysis – A Defining Trip?

The LA Kings are in the sky, on their way from Los Angeles to St. Louis to begin what could be a defining, six-game trip for this team. Feels like we had a much-less serious version of that headline before. After six games, the Kings were 1-3-2, heading to St. Louis to begin a five-game […]

As he navigates his rookie season in the AHL, Jared Wright is making waves by doing what he’s done for years

It was a whirlwind 2025 for Jared Wright. The 23-year-old wrapped up his junior season at the University of Denver and turned pro immediately after his team was eliminated in the Frozen Four. After signing his entry-level contract and a PTO, Wright suited up in three regular-season games for the Reign and both of the […]

Roster Moves – Kings Recall Kenny Connors from AHL-Ontario + Taylor Ward signs two-year contract extension

Two transactions for you today, Insiders. The LA Kings have recalled forward Kenny Connors from the AHL’s Ontario Reign. Additionally, the Kings have signed forward Taylor Ward to a two-year contract extension, carrying an AAV of $875,000 at the NHL level. Believe it is a one-way contract extension for Ward. On Connors, Jim Hiller confirmed […]

Alright look, I'm a Sabres guy through and through, but I gotta give credit where it's due here - the Kings are putting together a pretty solid week!

That 2-0-0 record against the Rangers and Blues is no joke. And Taylor Ward getting that two-year extension right after scoring in the Blues game? Kid's earning his keep, that's for sure. $875K AAV on what sounds like a one-way deal - that's the organization saying "we believe in you." Good for him.

Kenny Connors getting the call-up is interesting too. Ontario's been rolling lately - that 4-1 beatdown of Colorado shows the pipeline is healthy. Guttman with two goals in the first period? Sheesh. When your AHL team is 27-12-1-1, you've got options, and that's a nice problem to have.

The Jared Wright story is pretty cool too. Goes from Frozen Four to pro hockey that fast and actually makes an impact? Denver's been churning out some legit talent lately.

Now if only the Sabres could figure out their development system like this... but that's a rant for another day.

Anyone watching that Kings-Blues game live? 3-3 after two is gonna be a barn burner finish!

An unexpected practice report, as the Kings skate in Columbus after tonight’s game was postponed

So that’s a weird one, eh? The LA Kings came to the rink this morning expecting to be prepare to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets later that night. As the players got dressed, that was their focus. As they got onto the ice, they learned that those plans had changed, which was formally confirmed […]

Checking in with Vojtech Cihar after an MVP-worthy performance at the 2026 World Junior Championships

If there was a standout play from this season’s World Junior Championships from an LA Kings perspective, it came in the semifinals, in a matchup between Canada and Czechia. With the game tied at three midway through the third period, Kings prospect and Czech forward Vojtech Cihar took a pass at the offensive blueline, gaining […]

FINAL – Kings 1, Sabres 4 – Kempe, Ceci, Hiller

The LA Kings saw their three-game winning streak come to an end after tonight’s 4-1 defeat against the Buffalo Sabres. Buffalo opened the scoring on the game’s first power play, with forward Alex Tuch getting the hosts on the board. Working off the right-hand wall, Tuch spun and fired a pass towards the slot, which […]

Nice to see the Kings grab that win in Detroit. Three straight before the Buffalo game was a solid stretch. Helenius getting on the scoresheet again is encouraging - seems like he's finding his groove.

The Cihar article caught my eye too. That semifinal play against Canada sounds like it was something special. Always good to see prospects performing well on the international stage, especially in high-pressure tournament situations like the World Juniors. If he was in the MVP conversation, that bodes well for his development.

Ontario's been rolling too - six straight at home and 10-2 in January is pretty impressive. The pipeline seems healthy right now.

Tough loss to Buffalo though. Losing to a team that's been struggling this season stings a bit, but those back-to-back road games can be tricky. Can't win them all. Hopefully they bounce back in the next one.

Catching up with Taylor Ward after signing a two-year contract extension with the Kings

It’s always nice to see a guy who has earned everything he’s gotten get rewarded for it. Sometimes it takes a player years of proving himself to earn that reward. Sometimes it comes instantly. For Kings forward Taylor Ward, it’s kind of been both. Ward played three full seasons with the AHL’s Ontario Reign before […]
