Capitals vs. Lightning Recap: Bolts Bolt Out Early, Caps Fall 5-3

In each of their first two meetings, the Caps and Bolts had combined for a total of five goals; tonight, they’d done that much damage in just the first period, with Tampa following the Caps’ opening-minute tally with four straight. The last time the Caps held a ceremony for Alexander Ovechkin they got clobbered by the Ottawa Senators 1-7. Tonight the Caps held a ceremony for Ovechkin again, this time for being the only player to hit 900 goals. This time they didn’t disappoint, scraping out a win for the good guys.
