Insider Reveals ‘Several Obstacles’ For Potential Warriors, Kings Trade

The clock is ticking louder than ever for the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings.

If they are going to create a sign-and-trade deal that sends Jonathan Kuminga to Sacramento, they will have to do it quickly.

However, Sam Amick is reporting that several “obstacles” remain in the way of any potential trade.

“Several obstacles to a deal remain, most notably the fact that the Warriors’ interest in Monk appears to be quite muted. His contract is the primary issue, as he has a player option for the 2027-28 season worth $21.5 million that does not fit with the Warriors’ future flexibility plans. There are concerns about his fit on the team as well. If they did take him on, team sources said it’s likely Golden State would look to trade him elsewhere. The problem with that path, however, is that there’s no clarity as to whether that would be possible anytime soon,” Amick said.

This reporting makes it clear that a Kuminga-to-Kings package seems very unlikely.

Add in the fact that Kuminga will have to agree to something within the next few days, and it casts even more doubt on the situation.

In all likelihood, it seems that Kuminga will accept an offering from the Warriors.

We don’t know what he will sign up for, but he will probably be with Golden State, at least when the season begins.

If the Warriors wanted Monk or saw a way to trade him, things could look different.

But they don’t currently want what he has to offer, and they can’t foresee another team wanting to take him on.

In many ways, a trade with the Kings is just too much work for the Warriors, so they’d rather hold on to Kuminga and see what their options are in the future.

This is a wildly unpredictable situation that seems to be changing often, so there is a chance it could look different in just a number of hours.

Kings Could Make Big Roster Decisions This Season

The Sacramento Kings might be on the verge of major but unexpected changes.

The current outlook for the team isn’t great, and there are concerns that they will be even worse this year than last.

According to Evan Sidery, the Kings are the team most likely to “blow it up” during the new season.

“League executives project the Kings as one of the most likely teams to blow it up. A roster with win-now players — Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, Malik Monk — a slow start could lead them to becoming a top seller. Sabonis is viewed as having the most trade value,” Sidery posted on X.

The Western Conference is going to present the Kings with a huge challenge in 2025-26.

All of the teams around them are seemingly better, and the Kings were already struggling.

Their offseason addition of Dennis Schroder might help them, but it probably won’t be enough.

If the team is in a tough spot around the trade deadline, there is no doubt that they will be at the center of many rumors.

The good news for the Kings is that they have plenty of assets, as noted by Sidery.

They are home to several stars who could be attractive to other teams, such as Sabonis, Monk, and DeRozan.

Kings fans were hoping for success with these men on board, but it hasn’t panned out, and they want the front office to get the most for them.

That would probably come in the mix of future draft picks and some promising talent already in the league.

The Kings were showing potential a few years ago, but only briefly.

They are back in a tough spot, and it may be time for them to think about breaking everything down and starting from scratch.

Kings Given Intriguing Odds To Win Western Conference

It took him some time, but Russell Westbrook has finally found a new home in the NBA.

On Wednesday, it was announced that Westbrook had signed a deal with the Sacramento Kings, meaning he will be in the league once again when the new season kicks off in a few days.

The Kings might have Westbrook, but that doesn’t mean they have a great chance of reaching the Finals.

According to BetUS NBA, Sacramento now holds +25,000 odds to win the Western Conference.

Westbrook could bring Sacramento’s backcourt some help, but it probably will not be enough.

Over the last few years, he has grown increasingly unreliable and inconsistent as he’s played for the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, and Denver Nuggets.

Last season, he averaged 13.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 6.1 assists for the Nuggets.

He’s had his fair share of problems and hasn’t been able to settle down in one place for long, but the Kings believe Westbrook could bring a level of experience that could give them a much-needed boost.

Plus, they signed him to a one-year, $3.6 million contract, which means they don’t have much on the line.

After being an MVP and leading the league in all-time triple-doubles, Westbrook has slowly turned into a bench player at times.

It’s not entirely clear how Sacramento will use him or if he will remain with the team.

The Kings are not the Nuggets or Clippers, so they may rely on him more often, and Westbrook could see himself earn back some of the responsibilities he’s lost over the last several seasons.

3 Kings Players Reportedly ‘Pushed’ For Russell Westbrook Signing

The Sacramento Kings made it official on Wednesday when they signed Russell Westbrook after months of rumors and speculation.

Now, the former MVP is coming to a team that desperately wants to get on track.

Reports from inside the Kings say that the Westbrook signing had the full support of Sacramento’s biggest stars.

“DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine and Domantas Sabonis pushed for the Kings to sign Russell Westbrook,” per Shams Charania.

These three players believe there is a lot of upside to having Westbrook in the lineup, but some Sacramento fans aren’t so sure.

The last few years have been filled with inconsistency from Westbrook, and he hasn’t shone as brightly as he once did.

Plus, he hasn’t stayed in one location for very long, leading to some claims that he’s not a team player.

But the Kings still belong to DeRozan, LaVine, and Sabonis, at least for now.

They hold all the power, and they feel that this team needs the sort of boost that Westbrook can bring.

The front office wants to keep them happy, plus they didn’t have to spend too much to get Westbrook.

Therefore, they were willing to take the risk, especially to please their three biggest stars.

The Kings have their work cut out for them, particularly because the Western Conference is so stacked this year.

If they aren’t able to climb up from their place in the standings from last season, many people predict the Kings will look radically different next season.

This is a team to watch when the trade deadline rolls around.

Westbrook believes in himself, and he has the backing of Sacramento’s lead trio.

Now it’s time to see what sort of impact he can make.

Russell Westbrook Has Decided On His Jersey Number With Kings

For the last several months, it seemed like Russell Westbrook wouldn’t be in the NBA when the 2025-26 season started.

But just a few days ago, he was signed by the Sacramento Kings, meaning he will begin his 18th campaign in the league next week.

However, he won’t be able to wear No. 0 or No. 4 like he has for other teams.

With his new team, Westbrook is getting a new number on his jersey.

No one was sure what the future held for Westbrook when the summer began.

He decided to test free agency and see what teams wanted him, but it quickly became clear that he wasn’t in demand.

In fact, many reports said the Kings were the only team interested in acquiring Westbrook’s skills.

But a deal didn’t come together, and it looked like the nine-time All-Star was going to sit out at the start of the season.

Then, with just days to go before the new season, Westbrook agreed to a contract with the Kings.

Still, there are many questions about his role in Sacramento.

It’s not clear if he will be a bench player or a member of the starting unit.

Over the last few years, he has seen his responsibilities and minutes on the court shift from team to team.

The Kings recently signed Dennis Schroder, another accomplished ball-handler, which could complicate things for Westbrook.

After a few disappointing seasons and a wild summer, Westbrook has a lot to prove with his new squad.

Kings Coach Reveals Honest Thoughts About Russell Westbrook

After months of rumors, the Sacramento Kings finally signed Russell Westbrook earlier this week, bringing the team proven veteran experience.

However, Westbrook isn’t just bringing his skills to Sacramento, because worries about him are also coming to the Kings.

But Sacramento’s head coach, Doug Christie, has nothing but faith in his new player, and he wants him to be himself.

“I just want Russ to be Russ,” Christie said.

If Westbrook is just like he was last season, he should be good for at least 13.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game.

Those are good numbers, but Westbrook is also celebrated for his motor and unstoppable spirit.

No matter how he is playing or who he is battling against, Westbrook puts 100 percent of himself into each and every match.

That could work wonders for the Kings, but it could also create problems, too.

Over the last several years, Westbrook has been criticized because of his inconsistency on the court and questionable decision-making.

There have been fans who have wondered why he doesn’t remain with one squad, and his team chemistry has faced scrutiny, too.

Westbrook is about to start his 18th season in the league, and he will need to redeem himself to some people.

If he’s in fine form, Westbrook could be a huge boost to the Kings and might help them reach the playoffs again.

But if bad habits pop up, the signing of Westbrook might create a headache for all of Sacramento’s fans.

Throughout his career, there have been numerous versions of Westbrook, and people are wondering which one will play for the Kings.
