The Arizona Cardinals and the rest of the NFL kickoff on Sunday… well technically on Thursday Night Football with one of the biggest rivalries in the game.

However, for the Cardinals and the rest of the NFL, Sunday is the day.

Today, the team announced a couple of practice squad moves heading into week one.

The Arizona Cardinals Football Club today announced that the team has signed linebacker Jared Bartlett to the practice squad and has released offensive lineman Roy Mbaeteka from the practice squad.

In addition, the team has been granted an international player practice squad exemption for defensive lineman Denzel Daxon.

The signings took place today at the Dignity Health Arizona Cardinals Training Center in Tempe, AZ.

Bartlett (6-2, 238) entered the league with the New York Jets as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Cincinnati and spent the preseason with both the Jets and Packers. He played collegiately at Cincinnati (2024) and West Virginia (2019-23) and appeared in 61 games, recording 204 tackles (107 solo), 21.5 sacks, 32.5 tackles for a loss, five passes defensed, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Daxon (6-2, 320) is a native of the Bahamas and moved to the United States in 2016. He spent the 2024 season on the Cowboys practice squad as the team’s international player and was with Dallas this preseason. Daxon entered the league last year with Dallas as an undrafted rookie free agent from Illinois. He played at Illinois in 2023 after beginning his collegiate career at Ohio (2019-22).

Bartlett will wear jersey #48 and Daxon will wear #59.

Good luck to Mbaeteka in whatever is next, and welcome to the desert to Jared and Denzel.

Cardinals Reacts Survey: Which player are you most looking forward to see play in Week 1

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Cardinals fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.

Happy Wednesday one and all.

The Arizona Cardinals kick things off on Sunday morning (if you are local) against the New Orleans Saints, and we know you are excited.

So the question this week, heading into week on is, which of the Cardinals players are you most excited to see in action on Sunday for the Arizona Cardinals? I took out the easiest ones of Kyler Murray and James Conner, added in most of the new guys, or young guys.

For me, I am mostly excited about that defense and how the new additions (or Calais Campbell) look in Jonathan Gannon and Nick Rallis’ defense.

What does the defense look like with NFL level talent all over?

This is an exciting week, but who are you most excited to see on the field?

Jonathan Gannon talks health of Arizona Cardinals and facing Saints in opener

The Arizona Cardinals open things up with the New Orleans Saints on Sunday on the road.

Today, Head Coach Jonathan Gannon met with the media discussing a bevy of topics, but a couple that really stood out ahead of their matchup with the Saints.

Gannon says the Cardinals will not have any absences at practice today. Full team ready to go for Week 1.

To be fair, this is all that matters at all, nothing else really comes close to mattering except the health of the team, and if everyone who is active is also practicing, that means the team is ready to go.

The Cardinals will make their trip to New Orleans a one-night stay instead of two nights, as they would've done in the past, coach Jonathan Gannon said today.

Arizona talked to "experts," Gannon said, about the pros and cons of traveling through two time zones for a night.…

I actually don’t mind this, as New Orleans is a fun city and can always cause some issues, so keep it tight for the first one.

"I have a high opinion of Kellen. If you go back and look at my track record against him, it's not good."#AZCardinals HC Jonathan Gannon wasn't lying.

1-3 against Kellen Moore during their time in the NFC East as play-callers. Gannon's defense gave up point totals of 41, 51,…

I always love Gannon’s approach. He is not a trash talker, he respects others and acknowledges where he has not had success previously. This is just a good coach talk situation.

"At the end of the day our defense will go as the D-line goes."

This goes without saying, but the team needs the defensive line to be great this year to take the next step on defense.

If that happens, it’ll be because they have made a concerted effort over the last two seasons to get there.

"I know he's a playmaker. Let's make 'em."

The Cardinals need Murray not to just make plays, but find a consistency in the playmaking that doesn’t range from best QB in the league, to replacement level starter. They need him to maintain a top 12 type of play for a full 15+ games (we know all players have bad games).

"Games are fun. You get to get measured."

Let’s go Cardinals!

Quarterbacks could run wild in Cardinals-Saints matchup

gettyimages-2229468214.jpg

With the Arizona Cardinals taking on the New Orleans Saints on Sunday I was going to take a look at some lines available for different player props to watch heading into the game.

To start things off today, ahead of the game I saw two player prop lines I would jump on early.

Kyler Murray’s over/under on rushing is at 25.5 yards.

Last year against quarterbacks that can move, the Saints struggled to contain those runners. The biggest thing that could be an issue is if the Cardinals do get up and then the end of game victory formation, but I see Murray clearing this one.

Meanwhile, Spencer Rattler’s over/under is at 21.5 rushing yards. Rattler cleared it in four of his six starts and I think the Arizona Cardinals new pass rush will have Rattler running for his life.

The biggest concern with Rattler is that the Cardinals get after him too much early, get ahead and they want to get Tyler Shough some work.

I like both quarterbacks to clear their rushing lines in this one, and with Rattler you could potentially ladder his 25+ yards (+118) and 30+ yards (+182).
