Summer still uneven for Kasparas Jakucionis as Heat fall to Pistons in Vegas

There likely won’t be many, if any days, this season when Kasparas Jakucionis will have the opportunity to be the leading man for the Miami Heat. Thursday at the Las Vegas NBA Summer League, was one that came practically by default. And again left questions about the guard out of Illinois taken at No. 20 last month by the Heat. With Kel’el Ware and Pelle Larsson having left summer league, and ...

Kasparas Jakucionis Takes on Lead Role for Miami Heat in NBA Summer League

With the Miami Heat sitting Pelle Larson and Kel'el Ware on Thursday night, former Illini Kasparas Jakucionis immediately became the focal point of the Heat's offense in the NBA Summer League outing against the Detroit Pistons. In one of his bright spots, Jakucionis showcased his dynamic ability as a lead guard – especially out of the pick-and-roll. On another positive note, Jakucionis continued to stay active defensively, as he has all summer, which has been a welcome surprise.

Did the Miami Heat Pass on Damian Lillard Because of Kasparas Jakucionis?

According to Sam Amico, a senior NBA writer, the Miami Heat had no interest in signing former superstar guard (and likely still-potent starter) Damian Lillard. Combine a concerning injury for any basketball player (one that used to be the death knell for careers) with Lillard's age (35), and it's hard to imagine him coming back as the player he once was. Or there's this: Perhaps the Heat already feel secure with the point guard they selected in the first round of last month's NBA Draft, No. 20 overall pick Kasparas Jakucionis.

Miami Heat Reportedly Passed On Signing Damian Lillard Due To Injury Concerns

Sam Amico of Amico Hoops later reported that the Miami Heat never really contemplated signing veteran guard Damian Lillard in this offseason. The news arrived when Lillard is still in rehab following the Achilles injury he sustained which kept him out for most of last season. Known for its caution in roster building, the Heat quite rightly worried about Lillard's health and age. “He overachieved, dame hang it up,” one user bluntly wrote, expressing doubt on Lillard ever coming back to form.

Ira Winderman: Subtle or severe? Heat remix allows Erik Spoelstra many different options.

MIAMI — In an NBA offseason of massive makeovers, from the Phoenix Suns deconstructing to the Los Angeles Clippers reconstructing, the Miami Heat’s summer has stood far more muted. Norman Powell, Simone Fontecchio, Kasparas Jakucionis and Vlad Goldin in; Duncan Robinson, Kevin Love, Kyle Anderson, Alec Burks, Josh Christopher and Isaiah Stevens out. And yet even with that minor amount of ...

Miami Heat First-Round Rookie Graded After Disappointing Summer League Performance

With the Summer League officially concluding, the rookies and younger stars have shown their potential on the court. The Miami Heat's Summer League season finished up on Friday. First-round draft pick Kasparas Jakucionis was presumably who the Heat were most intrigued to see some action out of. The Illinois product was viewed as a major steal in last month's NBA draft.

Heat Surprisingly Among Teams Not Pursuing Warriors Star In Trade, Per Report

The Miami Heat do not have a clear direction for the future, as their rotation is a mixture of experienced All-Stars and young, unproven talent. The 2025-26 season will seemingly give Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo a chance to lead the team distraction-free before the front office ultimately decides whether to build around them or commit to the youthful side of the roster. One of the most popular of the bunch involves Golden State Warriors rising star Jonathan Kuminga, who is seemingly seeking a new NBA home. Despite the Heat's rumored interest in Kuminga, a report from ClutchPoints alludes to quite the opposite.

Jovic hoping to be Dragic 2.0 when it comes to representing Heat at EuroBasket

MIAMI — For Miami Heat forward Nikola Jovic there is dual motivation from Goran Dragic when it comes to his participation in EuroBasket starting next month. Expected to move into a sizable role with Serbia’s national team, Jovic said in an interview ahead of Serbia’s training camp that Dragic eased his Heat path into such extracurricular offseason work. “I’m sure it’s not easy for them, just ...

New Blockbuster Three-Team Trade Idea Sends Tyler Herro to Dallas, Heat Get PJ Washington and Klay

Although it's always difficult to predict exactly how the offseason will affect the upcoming NBA season, it seems clear that the Eastern Conference is going to be up for grabs. The Indiana Pacers won the conference last year in one of the most surprising championship runs in recent memory, but they are going to be without Tyrese Haliburton for the year. The Boston Celtics have always been a force in the Eastern Conference, but Jayson Tatum went down with an Achilles injury in the second round and will miss the upcoming season. The Bucks made a big move to add Myles Turner, but they had to cut Damian Lillard to do it.
